It seems to me you are trying to have it both ways. On the one hand you are arguing that illegal crime statistics are as bad or worse than those of native born Americans. Which they have interpreted as you saying “they” are more “evil” than “us.” Which you flatly deny, as you rightly should since you have made no such assertion. On the other hand they are arguing illegal crime statistics are superior to native crime statistics, which you are interpreting as they claiming “immigrants” are better than “us,” even though they have not made any such assertion. At least that’s how it appears to me.

You make a very convincing case, anecdotal though it may be. I have no doubt that Americans that have farms and ranches at or near the border sometimes feel as if there is an invasion. And for those people the situation may very well feel like a crisis, an emergency. And they have probably been howling like cats and dogs for somebody to do something about it. Your family’s experience seems to go back over 100 years. That has to be frustrating.
Under no circumstances do I dispute your experience or disavow your feelings on the matter. The point I have been trying to make to Harry is this has not been a major focal point on a national scale until DJT made a campaign issue out of it. Harry says it has been a nationwide concern for decades, while I disagree and think it is a made up emergency by a clever politician who exploits it for his own benefit.
Think back ten years ago, 2009. Do you recall a hew and cry for a wall to protect us from the ravaging hordes? Maybe there was and I’m just too feeble minded to remember. But I don’t recall it being a central tenet of either party back then.
At any rate I feel sorrow for what your family has gone through. I wish there could be a resolution to the whole thing. But IMO a wall is not a resolution.
I agree! You have explained your point of view with absolute clarity. What I’m saying is those who disagree with you are also explaning their point with the same clarity. You just disagree with each other. It would be most helpful if both sides would recognize that and not try to paint the other as being unreasonable.

What is the problem with expecting zero illegal immigration? Seal the border and expect anyone wishing to enter this country to do it within the confines of the law. If they don't, send them back.

I am surprised the people on this board are actually praising a president to violate the constitution of USA.Illegal immigration has been a problem for over a hundred years when I was in Oklahoma it was a problem then also, and that was in 70's.. Being a political scientist and having read the US constitution in college at okla state I found it a beautiful document in fact I still have a copy of it. The reason the purse strings were given to the congress is very simple the founding fathers did not want an imperial president who could spend peoples money in anyway he wanted to. Lots of people have talked about other presidents who have declared national emergencies but none of the emergencies allowed the president to take money from other projects and spend it on a campaign promise.
Please don't get taken by a con man,and a failed business man, believe me I have followed Trump since he wrote his first book, and I have talked to several people from New York both conservative and liberals several years ago even before Obama became the

No one wants illegal immigrants, but the overwhelming majority come in on temporary Visas and overstay.......the wall will do nothing to stop that.........if we are going to spend this kind of money, spend it where it will help.......even during his speech yesterday he lied about huge amounts of drugs in cars and Semis coming across the southern boarder at non ports of entry........his own DHS says that is not true.......
