Won another raffle on tMB. I think that's now 4 of my last 6. Unreal.
I've no idea what even close to secondary prices would be for either of these bottles. Hell, for that matter I don't know what MSRP is either.Been after sweet wheat for a while... just dont want to pay secondary prices.

Just delivered today safe and sound.
It'll take me a while but I plan on drinking everything I have - eventually.Pretty much everyone here eventually drinks their purchases, right? Kind of disturbed by the "shelf-queen" phenomenon being flexed by the taters on the Facebook whisk(e)y pages. "This bourbon will never be drunk". So idiotic and pretentious. Just want to slap 'em.

Can @BluegrassPoke bring his JD?It'll take me a while but I plan on drinking everything I have - eventually.
I cracked open a Sweet Wheat last night. That is some delicious stuff.
I think we are building some momentum for a Tulsa area meet up. Bring samples and bottles to swap and share.
How is it?I've no idea what even close to secondary prices would be for either of these bottles. Hell, for that matter I don't know what MSRP is either.

I opened the Sweet Wheat last night. It was delicious. One of the easiest drinkers I've ever had. Very sweet. Lots of vanilla, caramel, toasted marshmallow. Basically liquified adult candy. How is it?
If it's a JD full proof single barrel - sure. Can @BluegrassPoke bring his JD?

It lives up to it's name and the hype.
well played. If it's a JD full proof single barrel - sure.
I've got a couple of bottles that will probably take the birth of a grandchild to convince me to open and share, but other than that....everything gets drank/drunked/drunk/whatever the right word os.Pretty much everyone here eventually drinks their purchases, right? Seems very reasonable to me. I've been saving a bottle of 30 YO Campbelltown distilled single malt scotch from the SMWS for retirement in April, and a bottle of Four Gate Batch #14 for my 60th a few months later.I've got a couple of bottles that will probably take the birth of a grandchild to convince me to open and share, but other than that....everything gets drank/drunked/drunk/whatever the right word os.
It’s VERY sweet. Not really my jam. Reminds me a bit of the bastille. Buddy kept telling me how great it was so I finally bought a bottle (years ago). Like syrup.I opened the Sweet Wheat last night. Got this in today along with a few other bottles of random stuff - mostly store picks. But did get a Seagrass and a little book.I sipped on some of that the other night. So damn good. Definitely one of my favorite bottles that you can typically find.
That is a good day for sure. JD Single Barrel Proof and Seagrass are in my top 5. Seagrass ultimately might be my favorite whiskey. So damn good. I really wanted to hate Barrell products because the are so damn expensive but everything have had from them are outstanding.Got this in today along with a few other bottles of random stuff - mostly store picks. Agreed. They are proud of their stuff. But I've not had anything from them that I didn't like,That is a good day for sure. JD Single Barrel Proof and Seagrass are in my top 5. Thanks for posting. Pretty cool that I picked up numbers 2 and 3 yesterday. But have quite a few on that list already.Don’t know if you guys have seen this yet …
Surprised how few I’ve tasted.
Ranked: Top 100 American whiskeys of 2021 - Fred Minnick
This year’s winner of my American Whiskey of the Year had some stiff competition for 2021. But in the end,...www.fredminnick.com
Have you been able to get any of the Barrel? Thanks for posting. Pretty cool that I picked up numbers 2 and 3 yesterday. But have quite a few on that list already.
Been into Whiskey now for about 3-4 months. Just starting a collection. Went into a small local store today for the first time and walked out with a bottle of sweet wheat. Tried it before and liked it so I was pretty stoked when he pulled it out of the back for me.
I was talking mashbill with him and I think he knew I had been reading a lot about bourbons. He asked me my favorites so far and I told him sweet wheat and 4 Roses OESO. He had one SW in the back and was nice enough to let me buy it hahaYer killin me smalls
Happy for you but damn. Wish I could nab one of those.
You make a good point. Building a relationship or two with a local store pays dividends.I was talking mashbill with him and I think he knew I had been reading a lot about bourbons. what bottles are those?
Yeah, my two have a lot of sentimental value attached to them. I have a few occasions likely coming up in the next decade or so which will likely lead me to cracking one or both open....either in celebration or in memorial tribute.Seems very reasonable to me. I've been saving a bottle of 30 YO Campbelltown distilled single malt scotch from the SMWS for retirement in April, and a bottle of Four Gate Batch #14 for my 60th a few months
Haven't, but my present after work sipper is the Redbreast Lustau Edition which is a sherry cask finished Irish.Have any of you had the stranahan sherry cask?
Sweet Wheat is around $40 msrp. Maybe double that on secondary. What does the sweet wheat run msrp? Also what does that OF Birthday Bourbon run? Is OF Statesman any good? I don’t even drink this stuff but somehow I have become addicted to the hunt. Lol
Well cool I might get that sweet wheat then. That kinda sounds good from the reviews here. The OFBB just looked awesome and would be cool to have for someone if it was a special birthday. This seems like a decently expensive hobby.Sweet Wheat is around $40 msrp. Maybe double that on secondary.
OFBB is $150 msrp. Secondary is insane. Upwards to $900
OF Statesman is fine. No secondary value.
OF SiB barrel strength is $150 msrp. Maybe a little secondary value. Generally they are awesome.
OF 1920 is maybe the best value out there.
I'm getting partial to a good Irish as well. What are your recommendations (reasonably priced)? I've had lots of RB12, RB Lustau, Green Spot and Slane's but always looking for others....A Midleton Very Rare 1997 bought for me by my father as a wedding gift.
A Midleton Dair Ghaelach Grinsell’s Wood Tree 2 that I bought when we were in Ireland two years ago and holds a good bit of sentimental value.
I’m mostly an Irish Whiskey guy. I get overwhelmed a bit trying to wade through all the bourbons from America. I tend to stick with what I know.
