Oh they do a fund raiser and have a bunch of rare bottles they auction off on an online live auction. I got an email or read it in a news article. It’s not on Costco’s website it’s something else but they are who runs it. I will see if I can run it down. I thought of this thread when I read it.Details?
Ok ran it down and of course I was wrong. It was Kroger here is the link.Details?
Damn... I wish I were rich. There's a ton of awesome selections - that will go for WAY more than I can afford.Ok ran it down and of course I was wrong. It was Kroger here is the link.

I figured when I read they want to raise 250k this year. Sounded like some good stuff in there though.Damn... I wish I were rich. There's a ton of awesome selections - that will go for WAY more than I can afford.
That auction should smoke the 250k mark.I figured when I read they want to raise 250k this year. Sounded like some good stuff in there though.
I bid $1,235 on the Russell's Reserve 13 and 16, bearing in mind that this benefits a food bank.Damn... I wish I were rich. There's a ton of awesome selections - that will go for WAY more than I can afford.
Fred Minnick's latest review has him in an old school style OSU sweatshirt. Wondered if he was still a fan of his alma mater.
I sure hope you win. It’s nice when you can deduct it from your taxes.I bid $1,235 on the Russell's Reserve 13 and 16, bearing in mind that this benefits a food bank.
@Ostatedchi hopefully it's appropriate to reduce the donation amount by MSRP and not actually secondary value of the bottles. I think the 2003 itself is around $800.I sure hope you win. It’s nice when you can deduct it from your taxes.
Yeah. I think anything over MSRP would be considered part of the donation, but I’m not a tax accountant. But that seems logical.@Ostatedchi hopefully it's appropriate to reduce the donation amount by MSRP and not actually secondary value of the bottles. I think the 2003 itself is around $800.
I replied in about 4 minutes.Well Liquids sent their email out and I was an hour late seeing it , super pissed at my self for missing it that long.
I see you've been out bid.I bid $1,235 on the Russell's Reserve 13 and 16, bearing in mind that this benefits a food bank.
Yup! And the auction is open for another 10 days! A bit rich for my blood.I see you've been out bid.
OF1920 is one of the most underrated bottles out there. Great drinker, great price, and you can find it anywhere.I saw Fred Minnick talk about old Forrester 1920. I happened to see one bottle in my local store. I have to say it’s very good for the price.
what the heck is happening to the scotch supply though? Lots and lots of empty spots in shelves.
So I played in a 10 person poker tournament. The buy in was a bottle of bourbon. Winner got to pick 5, 2nd place got 3,. and 3rd place got 2 bottles.
I got the 5 on the right.
We alternated picks, so he got the 4R before I did. But I’m overall happy with how the picks fell out.Swap the chicken cock for the four roses. Are you going to try to qualify for the World Series again?
What Champ should have got to pick all 5 then second all 3 then third. Congrats sir!We alternated picks, so he got the 4R before I did. But I’m overall happy with how the picks fell out.
And yes, I plan on playing in the WSOP main event next summer. Future world champion.
Yeah. We cut a deal at the end. I got an extra bottle but he got to pick first. What Champ should have got to pick all 5 then second all 3 then third. Congrats sir!
Oh, the heads-up negotiations forget about that.Yeah. We cut a deal at the end. I got an extra bottle but he got to pick first.
I've never seen one in the wild. I'll do cost plus shipping for as many as they'll sell you and then add on some extra to make it worth your time. And yeah, it's like a $50 msrp bottle. Is it just me, or do the razzes on tMB seem to be getting more and more expensive for a spot relative to the value of the whiskey? Today I saw a bottle over there that I've seen a number of times in the wild at retail for 23.50 per pick.
EDIT: It's actually the Elmer T. Lee they just filled up. $27.50 seems quite high for that bottle, and I actually have seen it twice, once at Total Wine which had nine of them, for about $55.
Holy Shit. I just put poker at @Ostatedchi on my bucket list.I took some photos yesterday. I didn't break out the bottles in the safe.
Yeah. It's crazy. But I keep trying to win one.Jeezus did they stop making ETL altogether? $27.50 razz the other day and now another for $30.
Always looking to try a new one, so bought a bottle of OF 1920 based on this thread and it tastes like a monkey ate a case of banana laffey taffey and took a $hit in the barrel. I am still shocked at how pervasive banana was in the nose and on the pallet.OF1920 is one of the most underrated bottles out there. Great drinker, great price, and you can find it anywhere.
Very.I get the banana tones. And tastes / palates vary. But your experience seems out of the norm.
Very.
