Does Ross not pay his bills either? As much as Gundy loved wrestlers I wouldn’t hold my breath on the Pokes giving him a football offer. If they haven’t offered him by now I don’t know if they will.

He’s a 3 star. I’m not saying he’s a bad prospect but his football prospects are way down the list in comparison to wrestling. I would be shocked if he’s not completely focused on wrestling within a yearDoes Ross not pay his bills either?
4-star by rivals. He’s a 3 star. I’m not saying he’s a bad prospect but his football prospects are way down the list in comparison to wrestling. I would be shocked if he’s not completely focused on wrestling within a year
This kid is already 6'4" and weighing in at 220 as an inside linebacker. Once a D1 football strength/speed/conditioning program comes into play, he will be up to 250 with all muscle weight and is going to be even more dangerous on the mat.A lot can happen but him missing his junior football season definitely would slow down his football prospects. That being said, he is a freak athlete and a few good camps (in shorts and t shirts) and he can rack up some big time offers in a summer.
The way the rules are setup, he has a full scholarship offer by default on any football team so I imagine all the football coaches (Franklin, Campbell, Ferentz, Gundy) were informed and signed off on it. That used to be nice in that he doesn't count against wrestling scholarships but with roster cap rules, it doesn't let coaches add another kid.
He absolutely is a legit football prospect though, have to remember, none of us are Georgia/Oregon/Texas/Ohio State etc and we regularly take freak athletes who have a high ceiling but need polishing.
I agree 100%.That’s all well and good but my point is that his football prospects are no where near wrestling. If he was ranked 3rd in the Rivals 250 and had offers from all the blue bloods that would be a much different thing
I agree 101%. 1% more than DEWrestlingFan. Remember that please...That’s all well and good but my point is that his football prospects are no where near wrestling. If he was ranked 3rd in the Rivals 250 and had offers from all the blue bloods that would be a much different thing
Reminds me of Kueter. He was a higher wrestling prospect than football. He gave up football after his college freshman year to focus on wrestling. He went with the sport he was a better prospect for.I agree 101%. 1% more than DEWrestlingFan. Remember that please...
Kueter is planning on going back to football after the wrestling season. He took a year off to focus on wrestling after consulting with both coaching staffsReminds me of Kueter. He was a higher wrestling prospect than football. He gave up football after his college freshman year to focus on wrestling. He went with the sport he was a better prospect for.
That’s the first thing that came to my mind.Reminds me of Kueter. He was a higher wrestling prospect than football. He gave up football after his college freshman year to focus on wrestling. He went with the sport he was a better prospect for.
I see you got the cesspool treatment today 🤣 🤣 🤣Reminds me of Kueter. He was a higher wrestling prospect than football. He gave up football after his college freshman year to focus on wrestling. He went with the sport he was a better prospect for.
Was just making conversation with them. And I brought up a very valid point, even some of their people liked the post. That guy was more worried about keeping second than he was getting to first. That is depressing in my eyes. And to be honest, after this year and all of their transfers leave, they are not looking too good at all as a team. I was expecting it, that's just them, at least they are consistent. They are a very sensitive group! hahaI see you got the cesspool treatment today 🤣 🤣 🤣
some there are scared to death that the day may come soon where 3rd is the best outcome. Was just making conversation with them. I was just looking at their lineup right now for the future, and 3rd next year would be a big surprise, unless they land some big transfers again.some there are scared to death that the day may come soon where 3rd is the best outcome.
Amen. Thin egosWas just making conversation with them. And I brought up a very valid point, even some of their people liked the post. Well, as long as they have endless pockets, they can keep buying their way into contentionsome there are scared to death that the day may come soon where 3rd is the best outcome.
They are on the buy a lineup train…and it’s speeding to new coaches.I was just looking at their lineup right now for the future, and 3rd next year would be a big surprise, unless they land some big transfers again.
If i wanted to troll them I would have brought up the lack of recruitment they have done. Deluca is all they have so far for 25 and 26. They have a ton of holes in their lineup next year, with no solid recruits coming in to fill in all of the holes. But then again, that would not be trolling, that would be all facts.
Like I said, they are definitely a sensitive group over there.
Good take. It's precisely why we have/had fallen behind. John always felt like the hammer was going to drop from the NCAA on these RTC's early on and so he was very leery of focusing money there. NCAA kept a hands off approach and we fell behind. Then the portal and NIL came to town and its a new day. I would say most of us dislike the new system but its a get on board or get left behind scenario. Recruit strong and use portal to our advantage as needed.I will always believe that the strongest teams will be constructed through recruiting and not the portal. I also believe a recruiting emphasis on finding kids that want a post-collegiate career helps negate the transfer portal against you to a degree. That's why a strong RTC is so important. It sort of portal-proofs and shields your best recruits to a degree against being picked off with money. Not full-proof but it helps.
I will also say that what goes around comes around, and Iowa with its current RTC is ripe for pilfering itself.

i will say that Tom got the new guys to buy in and compete well so far... the grocery isle hawks are the only ones showing out. They are on the buy a lineup train…and it’s speeding to new coaches.
Margins are paying off right now, but they’re shrinking and will continue to do so.i will say that Tom got the new guys to buy in and compete well so far... the grocery isle hawks are the only ones showing out.
Part of the romance for most fans I would say is to see a recruit develop over 4-6 years. It certainly is for me. I lost interest in the pros when free agency took hold. This is no different. I'd much rather support a kid who loved my school at the beginning rather than someone who loves my team because his wallet is heavier. That doesn't track for me.Margins are paying off right now, but they’re shrinking and will continue to do so.
Part of the “romance” of being a hawk is the fan base watching these guys grow from recruits to contenders. It was a system that forged a bond to the school and to the athlete.
That’s why they’re so cultish.
Nice take as well. 100% agree. Also, I believe since John became more involved with USA wrestling as a whole, he started to make decisions based on what he felt was best for collegiate wrestling, not just what was best for OSU wrestling, an example is, we shouldn’t focus on mid season tournaments but rather dual meets, because that will grow the fandom, (and many more examples). Well, I do agree that that would grow the fan base but it may not prepare your team for post season quite as much.Good take. It's precisely why we have/had fallen behind. He'll absolutely have the wrestling resume, which is huge. He would recruit well. If he was a HC, it would obviously be at the University of Iowa. Spencer Lee coaching at Iowa would be successful. However, I think his performance will be very similar to Brands, which despite what a lot of people want to say, is strong, it's not easy to just be a trophy lock every year in a state that honestly doesn't produce the most talent (despite the support of the sport)I'm still on the fence about Spencer making a good coach.
I think this is the issue that is central to my thinking. Spencer seems like a chip off the Brands granite. The Brands are really good coaches, but that coaching style is not being used in the elite gyms and as we have seen, only goes so far. I'm not sure what Spencer did in the room and on the mat is as translatable to this generation of wrestler as the "keep it loose and fun and play wrestle".If it's one thing that has shown in the recent years, similar to how DT is a lot like his former coach, Spencer is a lot like his coach right now, which isn't a bad thing necessarily but I think limits him from consistently reaching the top.
It was inevitable. Blaze is fire (pun intended). Good job PSU
I really just don’t understand why?It was inevitable. Blaze is fire (pun intended). Good job PSU
I really just don’t understand why?
He will just be another name on the wall there.
I assume you’re talking about the wall of 4 time champs? LolHe will just be another name on the wall there.

Mainly better getting Jax which we already feel we have a slight leg up (even without Coleman).also. This is better for you guys getting Jax/Bassett
Insiders are saying he’s waffling on his commit due to a late push from the Brands brothers. @MALOS
I don't see Bassett caring either way. I think Jax goes to OSU.also. This is better for you guys getting Jax/Bassett
With Coleman at Ohio St now they definitely have a good shot at himMainly better getting Jax which we already feel we have a slight leg up (even without Coleman).
