HS Recruiting News

Our anti RTC stance always pissed me off because it made no sense what so ever. My last straw was when our head RTC coach went on a local podcast and said how the RTC athletes wouldn’t help the college kids develop whenever it was well publicized they were in fact helping and preparing them to win matches at every school with an RTC.
I remember that. This topic still sticks in my craw.

IIRC when DT was still considering going to the World Championships, one of the factors was this was supposed to be a big recruiting weekend. I thought the weekend 2 weeks ago was huge with several top 20 recruits in town. He said yesterday he was hurrying home because recruits would be in town. Any idea who is in this weekend?

Raney Bros, Mocco, Raegan Milheim (165lb #47 ‘26 big board) and Henry Aslikyan (125lb #16 ‘26 big boarder)
Of those, I think you have a great shot at Milheim. I believe he is a M2 kid. At U17s this summer, he dominated Iowa commit Owen McMullen 7-0. I think you have a really good shot at Aslikyan. I like him a lot. He would be a great get. Mocco is on everyone's radar. It's a crapshoot with him. The Raney Bros are the least likely here but I've been wrong before. Their coach is Brooks Black, so he has an Illinois RTC and school connection, and being from northern Kentucky, a family pull as well. Iowa is hanging all over these boys but I'll have to think DT has tilted the playing field a little bit here. If DT snags the Raneys, then I will know that he'll be a supreme force going forward.

This is Milheim's match against McMullen at U17s:

Believe Henry was the one I saw both coaches talking to along with his father. His video looks good.

Union County High School is in Morganfield, KY which is in western Kentucky. Union, KY is a town in norther Kentucky several hours away basically the suburbs of Cincinnati. Morganfield is pretty much a one stoplight town on the border of southern Illinois. But yes the Raneys do have a strong connection to Illinois.

You are correct, and thanks for the correction. I thought they lived just south of Indiana near Louisville but Morganfield, KY is quite west. Under Illinois.

I like the Raney boys a lot. Looked at lots of film. I hope they go to a school that grows their skill set. Brooks has done an outstanding job.

He is the #3 recruit in the country. In the replies to his top 4 list, Jax and Bo both said that they wanted to wrestling with him in college. That would be a heck of a haul for somebody. The 3 of them visited Iowa in the same weekend. I saw one rumor that all 3 may have visited PSU this weekend but somehow and for unknown reasons, PSU recruits seem to keep their PSU visits real quiet. Only Bo has posted anything from the weekend on the socials. Dreshaun has visited Iowa officially twice. One for wrestling and one for football. They have to be the favorites to keep him in-state. I have not seen evidence that OSU is recruiting him in football. He visited during a road weekend. Maybe OSU football will get him in for a separate visit too.

There are extremely few individuals that had decent wrestling AND football careers in college. None this century. Most from the 60s through the 80s when both wrestling and football were not as year-round and high tech as they are now. I personally would not offer a scholarship to anyone who wanted to do both. They are unicorns, and with him already having shoulder issues in high school, playing two sports in college just adds more wear and tear. A hard pass on a two sport prospect with a suspect shoulder.

I'd absolutely take him as a wrestling only guy.
