HS Recruiting News

I might agree if Coleman were full time. I'm not certain how much time Coleman spends in Ohio, but it seems like significantly less than 50% of the time.
Think he’s also still helping with a youth club in Stillwater, right? Want to say his wife has posted some stuff from the Stillwater HS wrestling room and about the youth club. Seems like Coleman is enjoying some family time and doing some coaching. He’ll be on staff somewhere soon, but he’s got young kids who JUST moved across the country once.

Come on man. The kid is a hair's away from a senior world team as a high school senior. And from what I can see - he's the only wrestler to take down Ono at 61.
Mainly, I wanted him to choose Purdue.

Parity is super productive for a sport that may come under attack with the current climate and I don't really wish on a world were you have a dozen teams competing with only 3-4 being in the mix.

But yes, this likely helps with other studs choosing OSU. It's just not the intent of my comment.

I agree with you in 100% in theory but Coleman being at Ohio State is impacting some kids. Have no idea if it is impacting Jax but it did so with another recruit. OSU got it straightened out but it was a thing.

Very bad news for us because he is a National Champ contender his very 1st year in college. We need to move fast from very good recruiting to great recruiting or we have to surpass Penn. St. in developing wrestlers. 2025 we need Jax and or Bo along with Mocco or the Iowa kid at HWT. We also need a great 165 or 174 whichever weight Lockett doesn't wrestle. For the future we probably have 1 wrestler for the future that Penn. St. would want ( Dee). I need to point out that most of these high level recruits were brought in by Coach Smith and his staff. With great development we have several wrestlers that Penn. St. might wish they got ( Hughes, Thompson, Merrill, Robideau and Vega. That is a big "if" but possible.

Same. Wherever he goes, his results will be the same

Anyone hearing anything on Correa? He is the best one left out there for the Class of 2025. If he does not end up at OK State I could see him ending up at one of three Big 12 schools that are going to need a HWT. Iowa State, Arizona State, or Missouri. I know people are saying Mocco or Ross are the answer at HWT for the future, but if Correa is showing OK State interest what does DT do?

Iowa st has Daniel Herrera he's a true freshman HWT . He won CA twice and won IA his senior year after moving to Ames.

Did Merrill really cert at 184? If that is the case and it won't be too hard for him to make, why would OK State not go after both Correa and Ludington if they are still out there?

Anyone have any idea why Arizona State has lost their two top commits from Class of 2025? If it is true about Ludington opening up his recruitment again.

Complete speculation but the new NIL rules and limits are going to kill a lot of good programs when it comes to top talent. NIL prices are going to go down fast, because when it comes to the Arizona State's of the world paying $ for a wide receiver or a wrestler, we know whos going to win

And mineo put this out there
The only reason someone goes to Iowa these days is for the money. I'd love for an Iowa fan to counterpoint that opinion. Other than Spencer Lee, who is unique, Iowa has no recent history of success with recruits, nor do any of them progress internationally. I can't imagine what the true selling point is for the Brands. Iowa fans keep talking about 14,000 fans in the stands and a new practice facility blah blah blah. These kids nowadays are in two camps. One is asking, "How are you going to make me a champion in folk and free", and the other group is asking "show me the money". One path sustains itself and the other does not.

Vega because of RBY. They went to same HS.

Ludington because of Zahid. I would expect OSU to have the inside track.
I knew Vega opted out of Cornell because of RBY. Didn't know about Ludington's link to Zahid. How about Sahakian, he opted out of Arizona State for Michigan.
