Why were Japan and (west) Germany able to go from being completely destroyed in 1945 (end of WW2), into world-leading economic powerhouses --- in a mere 20 years?
While many other countries haven't had wars, yet can't even give themselves clean drinking water or reliable indoor plumbing......even with billions of dollars of foreign aid.
Excellent question! Why do you suppose Japan and West Germany recovered so quickly? Could it possibly be because Japan, for the first time in its history, embraced free market capitalism, and West Germany shucked off the vestiges of National Socialism and also began living with free markets. It’s amazing how all cultures progress when they throw off the tyrannical rule of government and their people assume control of their own destinies. I think that has much more to answer your question that characterizing a whole people as lazy.

As regards IQ: in my mind Murray and Herrnstein put that controversy to bed 25 years ago in The Bell Curve. It turn out almost all of us - irrespective of race, sex, culture - fall in the normal/average category. IQ is irrelevant. There are plenty of people from “low IQ countries” on your chart that would blow you and me out of the water with their IQ. Should they replace us?
