There are multiple casualties at a synagogue in the US city of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, after a gunman opened fire during a service on Saturday.
Three police officers are among those wounded. Police have not yet said how many people were killed.
The man, who was injured in an exchange of gunfire with police, has now surrendered and is in custody. His name has not yet been released.
Officers are still searching the Tree of Life synagogue.
Local residents are still being asked to stay at home.
The synagogue serves the Squirrel Hill neighbourhood, which has one of the largest Jewish populations in Pennsylvania.
Emergency services arrived at the building at about 10:00 local time (14:00 GMT). A service was taking place at the time.
A reporter at the scene said survivors described hearing the gunman shout anti-Semitic abuse as he entered the building, US media report.
Footage broadcast on US news channels showed a police Swat team and ambulances arriving as officers lined the streets.
The gunman was reportedly a heavy-set white male with a beard.

At least eight people were killed and multiple others injured in a shooting Saturday morning at a synagogue in a Pittsburgh neighborhood known for its Jewish population, CBS Pittsburgh/KDKA reports. The gunman, only described as a white male, surrendered and was taken into custody, the station reports.
The suspect burst into the synagogue and indiscriminately fired in the building while shouting, "All Jews must die," police sources told KDKA.
Three officers were shot during the incident, officials said. The extent of their injuries are unclear.
Gov. Tom Wolf arrived at the shooting scene Saturday and called the shooting an "absolute tragedy."
"These senseless acts of violence are not who we are as Americans," Wolf said in a statement. "My thoughts right now are focused on the victims, their families and making sure law enforcement has every resource they need."
President Trump tweeted that he was watching the situation unfold.

Some of these posters actually believed Democrats were sending bombs to themselves. Think about how deluded one has to be to believe something like that.
