Newest Covid Scapegoat.......... tha chrrrRIIIIIIIIIISTIANS!!!!!!

Christian persecution isn't new.
Been going on before fire was a prom theme.

Just have to fight back with laws, legislation and guns, lots of guns.
It's the only equalizer the evil entities of the world will respect.

You are speaking to the whole article which I don't claim to have read. I was only arguing the "lede" as you had asked for.

My post simply addressed the 3 bullets from the lede: Denies science, bashes government, and loyalty over expertise.
I am merely clarifying the lede as to the Trump loyalists taking his advice over say an infectious disease specialist.

As to the "bashing the government" - are you saying there is not a strong correlation between those who are skeptical, critical of government or who believe in a deep state cabal?

You don't see a fundamental skepticism over science in some portions of the Conservative Christian Community? There are morons everywhere, but they don't exist in that community? Is prayer the answer to lowering death rates?

No one is saying all Christians deny science, hate the government, and prefer Trump to an MD for medical advice, but at the same time it isn't unreasonable to see a correlation between those people and a fundamentalist Christian belief system.

Serious question - does the Trump base readily accept his take on an issue over and above those who represent the science? If the answer is yes, then to some extent that contributes to the relative lack of early urgent action in responding the crisis. Seems a reasonable topic to discuss.
Science like: there are more than two genders and that allows biological men to compete in athletic competitions as women?

This is just nuanced conversation. Nothing wrong with it.

DA, you're clarifying of the lede is walking back your original post, but that's alright. You were asking for arguments to the lede and were happy to stand behind it. Now your qualifying the lede and trying to justify it.

As to your posts: I think I agreed that middle America is tired of a centralized, beauracratic liberal government constantly looking for opportunities to expand its control over our daily lives and to force a way of life and thinking that may be acceptible to the modern urbanite, but doesn't resonate with rural or even most suburban folks. As for correlation to a "deep state cabal", Im not sure were that fits into the lede, but I do believe that most of government is run by unelected bureacrats in D.C. who 3-to-1 lean left. Whether that is a cabal or not depends on your belief of conspiracy theory, but that by definition is a 'deep state'.

I never argued that Christians don't deny science. But the lede labeled them as such, implying that they were different than others on that point. Both sides, left and right, deny science every time its convenient to them. To label one side only is just partisanship.

If you don’t believe oil and gas is evil then you are a science denier.

Lives (noun) = living, alive.

The country is counting on the medical community to save lives during this viral pandemic.
You can't replaces "lives" in your example sentence with your definition of "lives"

Just a quick follow up note, it appears NYT changed the headline at some point.

What a time to be alive.

Pardon me, you can't while following traditional English syntax where adjectives and nouns aren't interchangeable
Lol.

The country is counting on the medical community to save the living during this viral pandemic.

See how you needed to add a definite article for that to make sense?
I'm sorry, pedantic07. Let me amend my previous post to inlude the definite article.

So, is the climate science as settled as the science of a mammal being alive or dead? Should we make policy based on the climate science or the commentary on the climate science?
