I have definitely read worse on here recently with no warnings. Penn st is the one winning all the titles but everyone hates on Iowa still not sure that will ever change . It's been amazing how Penn st has a dynasty but yet has kept from being hated.
I think Hamiti is top 4 and could end up top 2 at his weight. That doesn't mean he is OSU's best wrestler. These are all opinions. I think the problem was that you made a categorical statement.
I know you like it over there but the Iowa board is one of the worst I've spent time around. Every thread devolves into a sh!t slinging competition. They're all trolls. That's not what we're doing here. Simple as that.
I like this board as well I just hope it doesn't turn into opinions getting warnings that's all. The conversation here is good and rarely gets out of hand.
I don't think it has anything to do with "dynasty". I'm amazed with what Gable put out for a very long time. I hated it but respected it. It's the coaching style that turns opposing fans off. More specifically the antics of the Brands. Too brash and in your face. They have toned it down but the danage has been done. I bet when the Brands move on and they hire a "DT" the hate will go away.

I said hire a DT, and not THE DT. I'm still on the fence about Spencer making a good coach. He seems like a tightly wound and focused person. Almost too much. Your take?
Well it was for show but Tom was selling wolf tickets when Ayres was arguing with the ref... He kept putting his arms out (like "you want some") and yelling at him... Ayres laughed it off.
I agree and thought so the first time I read his post. Not sure DT making a million a year has any meaning. It is what it is. I don't believe DT wants to build his team through the portal. Some of the guys coming in had the process started with the prior staff to my understanding. Even so, making the OSU team stronger this year helps the recruiting process long term. He isn't bringing in all those guys to bring home a lousy 3rd place trophy. He's bringing them in to help build a winning culture and to lead the young guys by example. I'm not certain that is Iowa's philosophy on transfers, which seems to be to maintain position in the pecking order in wrestling.
I saw that . I thought I missed them face to face or something. That stuff happens every dual between coaches . Flo has talked about thats the best part about being up close at events is listening to the coaches. At Cliff Keen Vegas you can walk around and watch about 2 feet from the mats and you can hear and see all the coach interactions it's definitely wild
Agreed I'm just saying that it's part of the way Iowa is viewed... Similar to Ragusin verbalizing what most everyone else thought about John's corner antics.

Anyway, there is a big difference in spending money on a coach and buying guys off other rosters. The man behind it all goes by the name slumlord for goodness sake.
The transfers we get are guys that fill holes and are actually IN the portal. Iowa is putting guys in the portal, also very different. You are also transferring guys in over current guys that are good Wrestlers and have paid dues. Which to my point, is against the romance of Iowa Wrestling. Every single time that happens, you may be missing out witnessing guys like The Bull, Metcalf, Morning*, etc. and it goes against what everybody hates about Iowa. You guys have replaced the Iowa way with the only thing that could be hated worse...buying rosters through the portal.
Years ago it sounded like Spencer wanted to be an AD. But he has talked about coaching in some interviews recently. I think if he decided to coach he would be good. And his name recognition would definitely attract talent

Because it's moderated by people that want to keep it that way. The fact that this board is overwhelmingly civil is pretty incredible.
Bashing on Iowa is definitely a bandwagon but it's reallllly clear to me why people do lol
Not being boastful here, but I wouldn't take that bet. I've never seen such talent stacked on one team as it is now and for the next 3-4 years. That said, the next team that wins nationals other than PSU is OSU imho. Recruiting is going to even out over time. Tom Ryan and Tom Brands are great coaches but their age is going to become a recruiting detriment going forward. That's just my opinion there, and I know that isn't the only recruiting criteria of young men, but they seem to respond better to coaches that they can connect with.
That and I think they respond to coaches who are still the best and they can get a feel from.
New mods on the Iowa boards are keeping it civil now. No more political BS or trolling
I agree they're reloading again . That's why I said 2030 because they will still be really good then looking at the guys they've now and coming in. If someone beats them by 2030 wrestling fans are in for a treat. Oklahoma st or Iowa would be my guess if someone does it
and I stand by Hamiti being the best wrestler — followed by Hendrickson, Spratley, Amine and Jamison — all from the portal. 5 of your 10 starters are from the portal but, somehow Iowa is different.

You’re slow on the uptake… this isn’t a d!ck measuring contest. Your side of things doesn’t matter in the slightest. I’d like nothing more than for you to keep posting and bringing your view point to the board but you will take the hint or you can kick rocks… it’s no sweat off anyone’s back. And don’t feel like you need to reply… we should be more than clear.

Bro. I was KINDA with you on the Hamiti train. But it would be because you THINK he's going to be the best scorer on the team this year. Plott, Hendrickson and Amine have all had better careers thus far than him.
Now there has been some speculation that Hamiti is the "best" guy in the room P4P - and I've seen some people make posts regarding such - including someone saying Hamiti smashed Plott in a first to 50 go or something. That didn't happen. Hamiti and Plott ARE close in the room, but Plott wins pretty much every time. Close, but he's the better guy.
Hendrickson is going to score the most points on the team, followed by Hamiti/Plott. To list Amine ahead of Plott is sheer lunacy and there is nothing to justify that. Amine wins decisions - and doesn't really get big wins until NCAAs. Do I think that will change? yup. But he still isn't outscoring Plott.
Personally, I separate transfers into two groups. One group is made up of guys who have three or more years of eligibility left. Like Spratley or Jamison or Mesenbrink. They transferred because they felt they made a mistake at the beginning. The second group is made of of guys with two years or less of eligibility. They transfer for a variety of reasons (money, wrestle for winning program, personal reasons). Michigan and Iowa are mainly taking short term transfers as opposed to teams like OSU.
When was the last time a kid in the first group transferred into Iowa with 3+ years of eligibility and who also turned out to be a consistent AA? I would say that Iowa is no longer a primary destination while the Brands are there. Right or wrong, Iowa got the label as old school. Now they have a label of having to pay guys to go there. Buying teams is self defeating long term. Again, this is just my opinion.

If Oklahoma State's 6th best wrestler is a finalist with a 70% bonus rate that was basically his own tier last year outside of the champ, the team race between PSU and Ok State will be nerve wracking as hell this year and is coming even sooner than I foresaw.
