The Nazis gained power due to a week liberal (supposedly “progressive”) government, and moral decay in the post WW1 German society. The shitholes that so many major American cities have become are great analogies. This is pretty much accepted as axiomatic among historians who are not marxists.

I consider myself a democratic socialist. I voted for Bernie Sanders in the 2020 primaries. I align with socialists and/or social democrats like Sanders, Martin Luther King Jr., Eugene Debs, Clement Atlee (Prime Minister of Great Britian from 1945-1951) and so on. Sometimes I walk a fine line between democratic socialism and social democracy, just as Sanders does. I am also a member of the Democratic Party and favor the progressive wing. I believe in working with centrist Democrats and will vote for them too over a Republican.

I'm not a Bernie fan although I have appreciation for his views on foreign policy. I have a sister and a brother who are big Bernie supporters. They have been trying to get me to support him ever since he challenged Clinton back in 2016.

Marxist-Leninism is as bad as fascism in my opinion. I don't support a dictatorship of the proletariat, among other things (such as the economic planning systems that usually developed in the countries adhering to Marxist-Leninism). I strongly reject the cult of personality that so often develops in a Marxist-Leninist system (such as Stalin's cult of personality). This cult of personality is very similar to what occurs in fascism. I also reject authoritarianism and I am very pro-political democracy.
