What would you do?

I'd go vote knowing that it most likely isn't going to change the outcome of the election. I'd also probably be on the election campaign group. But that's just me.

So when are you declaring your candidacy? Let me know where to mail the check!
Is this meant for me? The reason that I said what I did is because that's exactly what I did in a similar situation.

I hated one of the Republican candidates so I became the president of the campaign committee of her opponent despite the fact that I pretty much knew the election was a foregone conclusion.

Well it was for Dave, and generally we yellow dogs support blue dogs.

You helped a republican in the primary or a dem? Congressional race?

Republican in the Primary. In my district the Democrat just can't win. But I did then cast my vote in the general for the Democrat. Again, totally despite the fact that the Rep winning was a foregone conclusion.

And there's a reason why you should do that. Now I can gripe with a clear conscience. At least I tried.

It was funny at school when the teachers would bitch about our state Senator and her voting against the teachers. My wife would bring up the fact that our district voted her in office. And what did they do to stop it. It shut a lot of them up because they supported her. It was beautiful.

I've heard teachers for 10 years regurgitate fox talking points and vote conservative. Mad about gays, guns, cultural stuff that makes no difference around here, and all of a sudden its as if none of it ever happened. They have cycled through more gun confiscation hysteria, Obamascare hysteria, etc. and here they are. To hear them talk they're yella dogs now. It's as if the last 10 years hasn't happened.

I am constantly amazed at how feeble-minded the American voter is. All these teachers deliberately voted for people that cratered our education. And their careers. And they're educated! They're otherwise sensible, intelligent people!

Man I am in a D+9 - this is someone I have worked with over the years who has announced retirement from his corporate job and thinking about whether to stay behind the scenes or step into the fray. The real question is House or Senate IMO but wasn't asked about that...

Now that I understand your original post..would he consider running as a “sensible” Republican against the incumbent in the primary?

Either way I’m kind of a “once more onto the breach, my friends” kind of guy. Win or lose, he doesn’t want to consider himself accursed for not being one of the brave happy few on St. Crispin’s Day.

That is the conundrum - the harder race is the GOP primary. In the general as an Indy or Dem he wins IMO.

Huh...interesting.

So you see more Republicans turning to a Democrat or Indy in the general than you do an alternate Republican in the primary.

I will confess that that doesn’t really compute for me. It seems potential “switch voters” would feel more comfortable switching to a fellow Republican in the primary than to a Democrat or Independent in the general. I could see party support and money being an issue for him in the primary, but not the propensity of voters to switch.

Neither. Don't want to drive speculation, but lets say a solid Blue (~R+10) state.
Counter-intuitively that is considered a red state. (unless you are using the point spread convention when you are saying R+10)

Money won't be an issue either. Has done well for a wide array of folks and has the bank roll to fund much of it personally. What I love about this person is they aren't really thinking about much more than they are fed up with the current state of affairs and want to make a difference. Quite religious, pro-life (but not anti-choice), fiscally very conservative... I suspect a decision is being made right now and we can talk about it sometime next week.

Cool...look forward to it.

Woodford and 2.5 gummies.
Gummies are fine and all, but these are da bomb when you gotta red eye to Bangkok.
