The Democrats & the Constitution

But we NEED to ban these weapons of war. We NEED to keep guns out of the hands of terrorists. We are the ONLY country where some loser can waltz into a store and buy a weapon of war easier than a can of soda. We NEED to stop all of these mass shootings. We NEED common sense gun reforms. We NEED everyone to just trust our President. He's DOING the right thing. What kind of America do WE WANT? One with rights and freedoms to murder with weapons of war or one under the rule of a caring, honest, ethical, and selfless government led by folks like Obama and Hillary?

Would you apply the same standard of a priori defense to a fugitive from justice (ostensibly suspected but not convicted of a crime)? How about someone under indictment but not adjudicated? Pansies and sheep the lot of you (could be the strong ale speaking...).

Would you apply the same standard to Ted Kennedy?John Lewis? Actor David Nekson, son of Ozzie & Harriet?

Journalist Stephen Hayes?

All spent time on the no fly list.

The fugitive has had judicial review. A judge signed the warrant for his arrest.

The indicted person has had judicial review. The grand jury and judge have reviewed the evidence.

Doesn't matter to me. I still want a conviction before a right is forfeited.

Indictment not equivalent to having a day in court... Suspicion sufficient not equivalent to conviction....

Double standard.

Is it as exhausting as it seems? Playing devils advocate for this corrupt elitist?
Oh the irony. The brain washing done by the right through the NRA is but one example... Keep arguing for subsidies for corporations, tax breaks for the truly elite, and the perpetuation of a billion dollar industries absurdly protected status...

wow... Your programming can't handle a simple question can it statist?

you should study what the legal definition of due process is, quite vague and certainly no fly/no buy can be constructed to pass the test...

You should blow it out your ass, Mr. Condescending, assuming that I don't know what due process is.

(If you didn't mean it to come across that way, I'll apologize. Meanwhile, keep blowing it out your ass.)

A quick internet search indicates that it's a federal crime to wiretap without a court order.

They keep coming up with Amendments they'd just as soon ignore (or do away with?) when it becomes politically expedient:

This week Bill Mahr said our system sucks and the Constitution needs a page one re-write. While he makes a lot of good points about the hypocrisy of the left, I think this is a pretty telling statement - and it's been picked up on this board. @syskatine in particular but the growing claim is that the Constitution is a "living document" meant to be changed to fit the times.

It's a complete disconnect from my belief that it should be almost impossible to change and in particular the Bill of Rights should be set in stone and considered infallible. If the document is easy to change, it means nothing - which of course is exactly what the statist a believe. They are incapable of debating various amendments because they don't consider the Constiturion as anything to revere or protect, even though they are happy to use it for cover when it keeps them out of jail or to escape criticism.

For all its vilification, the NRA is virtually the only organization doing anything to preserve Constitutional rights which all start with protecting our rights to be armed - which is an essential right of a free citizen. This right serves all others. And as such, this is the real reason the left elite hates the 2nd A. It has nothing to do with gun deaths and anyone who truly believes it does at the legislative level is basically a child arguing about Santa Claus.

@syskatine still hasn't been able to answer why the 2nd is in the Bill of Rights.

@davidallen, how is it the NRA "brainwashes" folks? Should we not understand the 2nd Amendment as it was intended? Should we let the Left rewrite it to fit their agenda? Is understanding what is at stake for the American citizen really brainwashing? I think the political elite of the left simply hates the fact that not all of us are useful idiots.

Sys doesn't care. Just wants it out. David is just blaming the NRA boogeyman when what he really has a problem with is the concept that the NRA reflects values rather than defines them. Can't blame him. In the virtue signaling world of social justice warriors, values are defined for him so he assumes it's that way for people who support gun rights.

i think the left is just terrified of the "not rich," white male who isn't a pussy.

Ok just one quick question - how do you reconcile the no fly list vis a vis the right to freedom of movement (Article 12)? Maybe you guys only pick and choose the rights you believe in....

Sorry boys my life doesn't revolve around y'all... Out building a playhouse for the grand baby.

If I have time I'll come back to this zoo and feed the monkeys some more tonight.
Racist

Oh David , your so superior! We will all be here waiting with baited breath as to what nugget of wisdom you throw out next.

By the way can guarantee you that every single major corporation has lobbiest that argue for special status and tax breaks. Sure Apple has their gadgets made in China because they are simply interested in giving those poor little Chinese people jobs (should open shop in the ME, you know more jobs less terrorists). Such a disengemious line you crapping out.

You supposedly have worked all over the world, so if you spend more than 333 (think that's the number now) days out of the US do you participate in not paying taxes on the first 80K of income? Probably not, you strike me a so self righteous that you carve out a check to the bum federal government anyway, just cuz you don't want to be like all those other special interest grubbing fools.

Said it before and will say it again, your a blowhard.

I know you would like to think so, but at minimum the no-fly lists and watch lists are riddled with inaccuracy and quotas and only further my concerns about due process. There is obviously a place for these lists in this day and age, but they should be accurate and there should be an easy path off of them if you are on one incorrectly. To be on a No-Fly list, there needs to be a pretty solid reason. Watch lists should have a lower burden of proof and you should get dinged when you are flying so you can be re-examined.

Do you at least acknowledge the problem in Orlando is with the FBI's analysis of these lists and what should or should not ding a gun sale or airplane flight?

I was put on the no fly list and remained on it for about two years. Zero probable cause.

Maybe you assume too much.
