So the roster…….

Good to see Brayden Thompson with a huge smile on his face in Flo’s video journey to STW.
Lots of room for our wrestlers to advance in the rankings this next year. Flo has new rankings. 125 Spratley is rated 9th, 133 Hughes not rated, 141 Jamison 11th, 149 Williams rated 18th, 157 Travis rated 12th, 165 Fish rated 11th, 174 Hamiti rated 5th, Plott rated 2nd, 197 Surber rated 21st, and HWT Doucette rated 11th. With these rankings we have 2 wrestlers right now ranked to All American. I suspect that the staff and young wrestlers will put these ratings to shame next year. I also think and hope that Carroll will be our 97 because of his potential and youth ( nothing against Surber who has given a lot to the Cowboys). I am sure we will all be watching and hoping for this development. I also don't believe we should be paying $500,000 for a wrestler who will wrestle for 1 year when we will be shooting for 2nd place at Nationals. But if we do, well 2nd place will be easier with Allirez in our lineup who is ranked 1st at 141. Hendrickson is ranked 2nd at HWT. I am excited about who we get with recruits and from the portal in this next year. Also with the development of our wrestlers and Program in the next years. I am glad we have kept Daton, Tyler Caldwell and so far our young wrestlers who I think have great potential. I do hope we have a lot's of wrestlers, at 20 and under and 23 and under coming up.

You can call it beating him down if you want to. As far as what I stated about him and Willie it was simply facts.
I’ve seen plenty of comments in the past about how Lee does his podcast. I think most would agree with my assessment if being honest. I listen to it because I love just about any content that has to do with Cowboy Wrestling.
The questions I asked him regarding the podcast and possible changes were not out of line but meant to be thought provoking.

Lee loves Cowboy Wrestling as we all do and I respect that. And btw, if I had the time I would do a podcast lol. There’s literally 3-4 guys out there doing wrestling coverage thru podcasts that are big time psu homers. Why can’t the Cowboys have 3-4? 😉

Hopefully we’ll move on from all this and focus on the Pokes.
Likewise. I would be your first fan. You should do it

Ideal line up with transfers in and where I believe they could finish at. Where OK State finishes at this year will all come down to the progress the young wrestlers made from last year to this year. We shall see how much of an impact DT and his staff will have on them very quickly!

125: Spratley - Very high possible AA
133: Hughes - He is going to make some noise this year, could be like Crookham/Stanich LY.
141: Alirez/Jamison - Top 4 AA or very high possible AA
149: Alirez/Williams - Top 4 AA or very high possible AA
157: Williams/Travis - Possible AA
165: Fish - Possible AA
174: Hamiti - Top 4 AA
184: Plott - Top 4 AA
197: Carroll - Gonna make some noise, very high possible AA
HWT: Hendrickson - Top 4 AA

In regards to how much Alirez would get it would certainly be due to the fact he’d be sticking around in the RTC. In contrast to Hendrickson who would be gone. I’ve said it before, having a real contender at 65kg in the room is a big deal for recruiting imo.

Also I’ve seen a few mention Snyder. I was told right before Taylor announced that Snyder coming was a real possibility. Huge huge get if he comes to Stilly.

I could see Snyder coming to OK. He has one more cycle left in him and would be of value in developing your upper weights. With Tervel declining his offer, I'd say getting Snyder becomes more important. My personal opinion only, but to me, Alirez moves your needle far more than Wyatt because Wyatt is just a one year hired gun, and next year is relatively meaningless. Why pay the money to him? Alirez on the other hand is a long term, RTC-building acquisition. He would be worth the money if DT thinks he would make it on the int'l scene AND be a good mentor for the lightweights. He's gotta be both. These guys want NIL and RTC money, but they have to produce too. It's a business enterprise when you look at it from 30,000 feet, and that's why you hired a new team who grew up in that environment. So don't be surprised by guys being recruited over.

Hendrickson will be at his next stop through the next Olympic quad. Will get his MBA, as that is part of his assignment in the Air Force, and then will be part of the military's World Class Athlete Program which can train at any RTC.

Anyone aware of what wrestlers are currently at the Air Force RTC?

Makes it kind of hard to train, doesn't it? I feel like the Armed Forces would have more success if they combined their RTC's.
Agreed. Maybe they train a lot with the US Olympic Training Center? I know the Army spends lots of time at the NLWC.

I just found this snippet ...

"Morgan McIntosh Begins Training with the NLWC as part of the U.S. Army World Class Athlete Program. Former Penn State 3X All-American and NCAA finalist Morgan McIntosh joined the U.S. Army and became a Green Beret after his graduation from Penn State. Also an outstanding freestyle competitor, Morgan is now back on the mat and training with the NLWC as a member of the U.S. Army World Class Athlete Program."

So if the Air Force has such a World Class Athlete Program as well, they could potentially send Wyatt to OSU to train as a member of their program. Essentially the Air Force pays OSU to have Wyatt train at the CWC upon graduation. That could be a strong pull for Wyatt.

WCAP is beyond wrestling. It is for all Olympic sports, and it's across all branches of the armed forces. It's essentially marketing budget for the military.

They also don't decide who trains where. That's still up to the athlete so long as they can fulfill their duties at a certain club. Michigan and Minnesota both have Air Force ROTCs and nearby instalments.

Have said it for a long time... If you have the mental fortitude to go to a service academy as a top ranked wrestler, you should. School is completely paid for, you get 35% of an O1 officer pay, and if you're competitive to make world teams you get to be part of the WCAP. In that, you fulfill your service duty state side, get paid a full officer rating to train, and then you can take courses to add to that pay.

Seems like Morgan McIntosh took full advantage of that. All of the ratings that a Green Beret has to pass mean he is at the top tier of the pay rating. If he's an officer it's that much more. Then if he can stay in it 10+ years he will draw a half pension. Full pension at 20 years.

It's hard as hell and you have to sacrafice a ton to make it work, but the reward is pretty decent. Get out at 35 with no debt and a top tier education. Half a pension. Tons of opportunities. And maybe a world or Olympic medal or more.
