Michigan needs to listen to John’s get tougher speech. They seem uninspired every week.Michigan isn't looking so hot against Minnesota tonight either. Gophers up 10-7 at intermission, Bergland beat Micic.
Angel Rivera. not much changeAs hard as is it, I think we need to cheer for Iowa to bring Penn State back down to earth after that Michigan beat down.
There should be plenty of fireworks and stall calls.
Any chance Iowa gets Chuck Yagla to ref the match?
Hurt or ducking the ranked wrestler? Now Ayala is out, injury bug is hitting the Hawkeyes hard.
I wonder what the conversations are like between coaches and wrestlers when ducking?Hurt or ducking the ranked wrestler?
From what I read, probably out until postseason if he comes back at all.Hurt or ducking the ranked wrestler?
Minnesota seems to have a somewhat underrated squad. They really battle.Michigan isn't looking so hot against Minnesota tonight either. Gophers up 10-7 at intermission, Bergland beat Micic.
That is where I am always looking for improvement and jumping levels. Our competition is constantly improving (Penn. St especially). Our freshman need to jump a level before next season ( Haas, Young, Voinovich and Travis Mastro). To win a title next year Trevor needs to continue improving, Daton needs to win a title this year. Plott needs to jump a level where he dominates a top 20 wrestler instead of winning by a point or 2. AJ needs to stay healthy and Surber needs to add 15 to 20 pounds of good weight. I have not liked how we have been wrestling in 2022. I hope we begin wrestling good this weekend and some of our wrestlers show individual improvement.Penn State is just too good. They always plug guys in and win close matches. They won all 4 of 5 close matches.
Can Daton take down RBY? His hips are tough and Desantos was in deep several times and could not finish.
Can Daton? Yes. Will he? That’s the question. Desanto got to the leg so easily and then just stopped. No angles created. No explosion. That being said RBY is so tough defensively.Penn State is just too good. They always plug guys in and win close matches. They won all 4 of 5 close matches.

Gable is an utter beast. Relentless.Gable got 8 takedowns against Mason Parris and won by major. Has anyone ever bonused the whole season?
Spencer Lee missed by 1 last year (NCAA finals) and Nolf missed by a couple 1 year (Kemerer). JO was a takedown machine his senior year, but I remember him winning late against Chamberlain in the finals.
Nope. Clearly gassed.Eirman didn’t have the lungs for another 2 minutes of OT.
I was very impressed by both teams ability to limit takedowns. By my count Penn St. had 10 and Iowa 8. The defense against some good leg shots on both sides was remarkable. The Starocci/Kemmerer match was fantastic. Penn State looked to be the team in better shape. RBY coming back in 3rd period to win,Lee with 3rd period takedown to win, Dean manhandling Warner in the 3rd period, Ride out in TB2 by Starocci, all showed lung power and determination to win. Kerkvliet showed poor judgement to try to go upper body with Cassioppi not once but twice.Looks like Penn St on their way to another title. Question is by how many?
We were apparently trying pretty hard to get Real Woods and Kyle Parco over the off-season.It helps to ’plug’ people in when you get a top 8 and top 2 transfer in….then get ranked returns out of retirement. We need to get some of these big time transfers. Iowas has a couple top 3 transfers. How hard are we trying in the transfer market? Imagine if we had a couple AAs and a finalist or two come in at our weaker spots.
DeSantos was fairly deep on the legs at least 4-5 times but didn’t have the strength to finish. I think Daton might have been able. But last year RBY was too quick for Daton to get to the legs much if I remember correctly. This year’s Dalton should be able to pull it off.
