Iowa is just adjusting like everyone else. But, I agree, their method is not sustainable. They need to show they can recruit out of high school as well. I think they realize this and are working a lot harder on their recruitment game.

I think Hamiti is top 4 and could end up top 2 at his weight. That doesn't mean he is OSU's best wrestler. These are all opinions. I think the problem was that you made a categorical statement.

More specifically the antics of the Brands. Too brash and in your face. They have toned it down but the danage has been done. I agree and thought so the first time I read his post. Not sure DT making a million a year has any meaning. It is what it is. I don't believe DT wants to build his team through the portal. Some of the guys coming in had the process started with the prior staff to my understanding. Even so, making the OSU team stronger this year helps the recruiting process long term. He isn't bringing in all those guys to bring home a lousy 3rd place trophy. He's bringing them in to help build a winning culture and to lead the young guys by example. I'm not certain that is Iowa's philosophy on transfers, which seems to be to maintain position in the pecking order in wrestling.

Anyway, there is a big difference in spending money on a coach and buying guys off other rosters. The man behind it all goes by the name slumlord for goodness sake.

The transfers we get are guys that fill holes and are actually IN the portal. Iowa is putting guys in the portal, also very different. You are also transferring guys in over current guys that are good Wrestlers and have paid dues. Which to my point, is against the romance of Iowa Wrestling. Every single time that happens, you may be missing out witnessing guys like The Bull, Metcalf, Morning*, etc. and it goes against what everybody hates about Iowa. You guys have replaced the Iowa way with the only thing that could be hated worse...buying rosters through the portal.

Years ago it sounded like Spencer wanted to be an AD. But he has talked about coaching in some interviews recently. I think if he decided to coach he would be good. And his name recognition would definitely attract talent
