Bro. I was KINDA with you on the Hamiti train. But it would be because you THINK he's going to be the best scorer on the team this year. Plott, Hendrickson and Amine have all had better careers thus far than him.

Now there has been some speculation that Hamiti is the "best" guy in the room P4P - and I've seen some people make posts regarding such - including someone saying Hamiti smashed Plott in a first to 50 go or something. That didn't happen. Hamiti and Plott ARE close in the room, but Plott wins pretty much every time. Close, but he's the better guy.

Hendrickson is going to score the most points on the team, followed by Hamiti/Plott. To list Amine ahead of Plott is sheer lunacy and there is nothing to justify that. Amine wins decisions - and doesn't really get big wins until NCAAs. Do I think that will change? yup. But he still isn't outscoring Plott.
Honestly, Hamiti could be the best guy in the room and under DT he may show that. It will be a stacked year for most all our top wrestlers. Specially, since Gable is returning 🔥

As for OSU and Iowa, you can thank your lucky stars that DT doesn't believe in buying guys or you wouldn't have a 133.
I mean Drakes situation at Iowa is pretty hard to beat. He’s getting paid, he’s with his brother/Iowa raised, his partner is the best 57kg guy in the US, his coaches are Olympic/World gold medalist, Olympic bronze and World gold medalist, and Dan Dennis another Olympian.

... and yet, despite all that, you can thank your lucky stars that DT doesn't believe in buying guys. Drake was available for purchase. I'm not trolling either. Like I've said in other threads, what goes around comes around.

He may not place 3rd or better, but he isn't the 5th p4p guy in the room. We can place a little friendly wager, loser donates to the shoes for kids thing somebody does on these forums?

I wouldn't be so sure Iowa played by the rules, but I guess I will concede and so that I cannot be sure they didn't.
What’s the bet? Happy to donate to charity if I lose !!!

I will absolutely bet Plott doesn’t place too 3 — all in good fun. Nothing against Plott at all. Sure he’s a great kid but I just don’t see it happening. Would be glad to be proven wrong.

I still hold that Hamiti, Hendrickson and Amine are better wrestlers — I may have gotten a little carried away with Spratley. I do think Spratley has a better chance of making the finals than Plott. 25 is wide open and all those kids can beat each other.

You know after thinking about it. I agree with you about Plott. He will definitely not take 3rd because he’ll be winning his first national title.

Not sure that deserves a warning. It's his opinion and he wasn't a dick about it. You may not agree with it but if that's gonna get someone a warning conversations on here won't go far anymore. Just my opinion please don't warn me 😂
Yeah. That "warning" is weird.

Chill.

Who are the 3 at 184 better than Plott? If you say Carter and keck, I could agree. Who is the third?

I'll take that bet.

If I win, I get to give a stern warning while
Appreciate that. They don't like tough posting over on GIA-hawkeye bacon.
A bunch of oranges over there.

100 to the charity?

@AtownPoke @oberebo @JAY45 who is the poster that buys Wrestling shoes for kids?

Read — I bet he would not take TOP 3 which includes 1st. Can’t say it any simpler than that.

I didn’t say anyone was better but you only have to be better once. I also realize it’s often harder to take 3rd than it is to take 1st — and he isn’t taking 1st or 2nd this year. A number of people can beat him to include Allred or Foca.

It’s called sarcasm numbnuts. Anyway idk why you’re so adamant that he’ll never take 3rd. He took 2nd last year.

Insiders are saying he’s waffling on his commit due to a late push from the Brands brothers. @MALOS
What? I have no idea what you’re talking about. Never have I put Blaze and Iowa in the same sentence

I have said I would gladly see Blaze go to PSU if it helps Iowa’s chances with 2 Raney’s and Bassett.

Oh, and I wouldn’t consider myself an Iowa insider unless reading message boards and following Iowa wrestling on my ESPN+/Big Ten phone app makes me one

Foca hasnt done well up at 184 and Allred doesnt have any past accolades that point to him beating Plott outside of a B10 title. Plott majored his way to the NCAA finals last year. I truly hope Plott gets to wrestle Allred at the CKLV because he will beat the dog 💩 out of him.

It seems you have a weird boner for Hamiti and an unexplained dislike for Dustin. Nothing in their careers points to Hamiti being so much better than Plott, not that it matters. With DT working with them we'll see an even better Plott, Hamiti, Amine and Wyatt this year than last.

Bro what??? Allred OR Foca can beat Plott? Based on what data point?

Did Plott fvck your little sister?

Nothing personal with Hamiti and Plott. I don’t dislike Plott at all. I bet he’s a great kid. It’s as simple as me saying I don’t think he places top 3. I think Hamiti is the best wrestler on the team and has the best chances to make the finals. Don’t add words to my mouth or read more into what I write.

But you can have an opinion that Plott will beat Allred but I can’t say I think he is one of several people that can beat him. Berge all but had him beat as a true freshman, Foca beat him more than once in college, he lost to Keck several times — but I can’t say I don’t “think” he will place top 3.

I hope I am wrong but I just don’t think I am

It’s funny you’ve been humiliated on the Hawkeye board for lying and now you need to come over here for support.

Foca has been Plott in college if that counts as a data point.

LOLOLOLOLOLOL.

Support? What? Like this is Posters Anonymous?

Foca and Plott have taken pretty clear divergent paths since that match in 2023. Had you made this point last year -

I really like Hamiti up a weight. He is going to be a tough out at nationals.

Be careful or they will accuse you of being in bed with Hamiti. You can say he’s good just don’t make the mistake I made and say he’s better than Plott. I think Hamiti makes the finals

It's not what you said it is how you said it. You SAID, Plott is the 5th or 6th best guy on the roster. A guy who bonused his way to the finals? What other finalist is in the room?

Is Hamiti slick and well suited to the weight bump, heck yeah! Could he out perfrom Plott, yes. Is there much of a reason that Plott won't be standing in the semis facing two all-time greats, nope, not really.

Could he fail to place 3rd? Yes. He wants a title and a semis loss would be crushing, so I could see it. But, until Hamiti shows up as a bonus machine poised to make the last session in March, he is behind Plott in Cowboy country respect.

Dean certainly has a shot at the finals. I've always liked him. I'm just not stupid enough to say he's better than Plott. 🤣
If he was in shape and not cutting too much he would have beat Mesenbrink last year — he had him until the last 90 seconds. If he won that match everyone would be singing a different tune about him. An in shape Hamiti is hard to beat. I think history will be kind to me. This year he will be a beast.

I've been singing Hamiti's praises for quite a while. Hamiti was in shape. He was just cutting too much, and while he faded against MM for longer than 90 seconds, he was the first guy who showed how to beat MM. Counter wrestle and conserve energy. Carr used that blueprint to eventually beat MM at NCAAs. So I expect a tireless Hamiti this year even though I don't believe he strikes gold. While he was a good matchup with MM, I don't believe he matches up well with Haines, etc at 174. Still top 4 though and you never know.

This is subjective and how you place at a different weight doesn’t dictate who the better wrestler is. Because Plott out placed Hamiti at a different weight doesn’t make him the better wrestler. Not to mention, I have reports that Hamiti gets the best of Plott in the room. You’re welcome to your own opinion but it doesn’t make it better than mine.

By the way, I don’t mind what you said but I don’t like how you said it either 😀

I agree with this 100%. Let’s just say he will be in better shape this year as well — the Okie State room vs Wisconsin will guarantee it. Hamiti will be a force.

Plott was the 12th highest scorer at the 2024 NCAA Championships at 20.5 team points. Ahead of him were 9 of the champions and 2 3rd place winners, Shapiro and O’Toole. Plott outscored every other runner-up and 1 champ. That champ was Starocci.
He beat Duvall from George Mason, Conway from FM, an injured Truax, and then Salazar. So he beat one returning AA enroute to a second place finish where he lost 14-5 with 5 escapes.

I heard Plott is the nicest kid in the world. I don’t dislike him, in fact I like him even more now. I just don’t think he places top 3 or is better than Hamiti. And, Hamiti is at a lot tougher weight.

It will be a very tough year at his weight for sure
