I think we'll agree to disagree on this one (at least in the very general sense of your statement). To fully flesh it out is a nuanced discussion I can't dive into at present. Short response: Palpatine and Vader didn't give this vibe at all. Whether it could have been a factor under the surface is largely irrelevant to me because that wasn't their outward behavior.
