brackets

Read they will come out at 6ish on weds. Starting at 12 or 1 they will release the fields for each weight class also on weds. From what I understand this year they will start at 285 and work down releasing weights every 30 minutes. Again....this is what I read so there u go!

I think it is 1 pm eastern to start the at large announcements and 6 pm eastern for the selection show where they reveal the seeding and brackets. So noon and five central time.

Actually the qualifier announcements will roll out today at 1 pm ET/Noon CT. They decided to step it up a day. Brackets will still be released tomorrow at 6pm ET/5 pm CT.

In my defense, they made that announcement a couple hours after I posted!

Missed the first part. Collica got the 11 seed.
Smith the six seed and has Gantt and Nolf on his side.
Rodgers in at No. 9. Would face Nickal if he wins the first 2.
Boyd is the 8 seed. Gets Dean if he gets to the quarters.
Weigel gets the No. 3 seed Pfarr first round.
Marsden the 4 seed.

At first glance it looks like pokes got brutal draws! Klimara starts with an unseeded returning AA. Harding has Clark second match. Heil has his only loss in qtrs. Smith hits nolf in qtrs. Rogers and Boyd both have the 1s in the quarters. If they win it they will have earned it.

Not a ton better for OU.

125 - Ryan Millhof gets the #5 seed. He's gets Gilman in the quarters, and hopefully Tomasello in the semis.

133 - Cody Brewer gets the four seed, and he only has two losses. Would like to have seen the current Big Twelve champion and returning National Champion get the three seed over a kid that didn't win his conference. Plus, that puts the two and three seeds who are from the same conference on the same side in the semis. Unless they're trying to guarantee a finalist for their conference, it might have been better to split those two as it would be possible. But, like everybody else, in order to be the best you have to beat the best. He's going to have to go through Nashon at some point.

149 - Davion Jefferies gets the #3 seed Mayes from Missouri. That hurts. How the heck is Collica only an #11 seed??? I thought they were going to try to separate kids from the same conference as much as possible???

165 - Clark Glass got the 15 seed. Doesn't help him much, but it's nice to be thought of. Congrats, you get Jordan in the second round.

174 - Matt Reed gets the #3 seed from Missouri.

285 - Ross Larson is unseeded, and draws the 12 seed, then Coon, then Marsden. That's a tough row to hoe.

125 - Tough opening match, but Youtsey is 12-13 this year for a reason. Survive that and I like his match-up against Rios or Macri (already beaten Rios). I don't love Nico in the quarters, but any of the 4 are bad news.
133 - A winnable first round match are all you can really ask for when you are US. He got that. It will be all about the back for GWH.
141 - Not cool. I just became a big Rick Durso fan! Tough road, but he is the #1 and needs to prove it!
149 - LOVE IT! Tsirtsis is a shell of his former self and Collica beat him last summer in freestyle. Then Mayes who has looked bad (got 4th in the MAC). The semi-finals are a real possibility here.
157 - Ouch. Really wanted to draw Gantt or Miller.
165 - Doesn't matter.
174 - I think I'd rather have Nickal than Realbuto. Nickal hasn't seen Rogers and is all aggression. Maybe he catches him? Needs to get through Epperly first.
184 - The way Boyd is wrestling who knows? Anything is possible.
197 - Not good. Back side draw will make or break.
285 - Of the possible quarter matches, I'll take this one. Not bad at all.

This tournament is so tough that it almost always seems like most guys get bad draws. There just aren't many easy matches out there. We just need to be the bad draw for other folks. Is it time to wrestle yet?!

Conference separation is no longer a thing with 16 seeded wrestlers. Jefferies can win that match. Mayes has looked bad down the stretch.

Jeffries lost a super close one in mizz. Taken the Sooner to pull the upset here. Milhoff can make the quarters then Gilman. Brewer... Who knows.... It is March!!! His time!

Mayes and Jefferies are in two separate conferences
Yeah, I was looking ahead. I forgot there's only one "free" round from your conference. Or at least there used to be. Davion lost to Mayes 4-2 in Missouri, so he has a legit shot. I think he'd get Collica next, who I think is the hottest wrestler in the nation currently.

I don't like a single draw here...but, winning an NCAA shouldn't be easy!

Looks like Dean gets the winner of the pigtail which could be Dechow. Wasn't that the match for third 2 years ago?

I wish Joe could of fell back one spot to the 7th seed. I like his match up with gannt in the quarters then already having AA status locked up before ever even hitting nolf. Not that he can't AA regardless but it's just one less thing to worry about, plus the added confidence of knowing you've already done it.
Collica got kind of a crappy draw, he should win his first round match (knock on wood) but then the road gets rocky immediately after that by having to get Tsirtsis in the 2nd round. 74 & 84 sucks because if you win your first two matches then you draw the one seed. Klimara draws mega in the quarters which is a very tough match up for Eddie. GWH has to wrestle Clark in round 2. It sucks but the way I see it, as much as we don't want to draw the one seed early, they probably aren't to thrilled of having their one seed have to wrestle the likes of a dangerous Rogers and the machine Nolan boyd early either.
Sorry if I sound so negative, just not very pleased with our seeds from top to bottom (with the exception of Alex) I'll get it over, boys just gotta show up ready to scrap. I have confidence in John and the staff that they'll have the boys ready to get it on Friday morning!

I like our draws. There are some real nice possibilities of upsets in our favor and taking over a high seed spot. Joe probably got the worse draw of our team. c u there.

Tsirtsis has not looked good this year so perhaps given how T is wrestling and how Collica is wrestling, it's a good draw?

They'll have 10 in the finals, everyone else is just fighting for 2nd place. ;)

While it's not the seed collica wanted, tsirtis and Mayes aren't wrestling well and I think he can take advantage of that as he is wrestling with extreme confidence. Quarters could be verrrry interesting with boys and smith up against psu fab freshmen.

Very true. I'll be up there every session and wouldn't mind the idea of drinking a beer or two with some of y'all. havent got the chance to meet some of our most loyal fans!

Tsirtis is not wrestling that well this year, Boyd handled the #1 seed handily last time and is wrestling better than he ever has, I think Smith will get Nolf this time.

Question, does #4 seed at 165 Lewis of Missouri always do great on top as he did against Deiringer? or was it Deiringer just had a bad day? was sick? mentally not into that match etc. I pick Deiringer but if that guy is always that good on top, he is a threat to upset. Is he USUALLY/ALWAYS that good from the top position?

Man draws look tough. Disappointed in Boyd's seed. We will have to wrestle well ... Captain obvious, right? A few upsets can surely set us up.

Really hoped Weigle would get a first round against a lower seed. He's potentially got a very long road ahead, if he wants to score some team points.

Lewis is very good on top. That said, he was never that close to turning AD so, while it may hurt his bonus point output, I'm not too worried there. If AD doesn't take down (I doubt he will unless he is already ahead by 3-4) then they will spend at least 5 minutes in neutral and, if Lewis does take top, he is sacrificing a potential escape point and hoping for a stall point/RT. I don't see anyone spending 5 minutes in neutral against AD and not giving up a TD or two, no matter how much they run. I also suspect AD has another gear that we haven't seen this year because he hasn't needed it. We haven't yet seen him need a takedown to win. He has always had the match under control even when it looked ugly.

So I ran through the brackets and I think Eddie has a good shot at 5th place.

The top 4 are the top 4.
Klimara will most likely loos to Mega in the quarters. IF that is the case, he will most likely have Lambert or Millhof. I don't see Youtsey or Macri beating Millhof and Lambert will lose to Gilman. I think Eddie can beat either one to go to the Conso quarters where he might wrestle Cruz or Mcghee or Peters. I like his chances against all of them to get to the semi's against Gilman who will lose to Tomasello. Gilman will beat Klimara and he will wrestle for 5th. That's how I see it anyway.

I am not disappointed with any of the draws. I thought they were fair and I look forward to a great tournament. I am not going for the first time in years but I will be following it on TV and the internet and depending upon okstatefan, Mr. Earl, KC Scott and others to fill me in.
LETS GO POKES!!

According to Flo if everything went to seed we are currently 18 points behind PSU.

Harding has a difficult task at hand.

If he makes it past Alber, which I think he will, he wrestles Clark and doesn't win that one. If he looses against Alber, he will face Rauser again. Either way I see it he goes 2-2 or maybe 3-2. If he makes it to Clark, he most likely will loose and face Giraldo or Kaisser as either will have Garrett in the second round. I think Harding can beat either one and make it to DiJulius or Montoya, which I see him loosing to either. If Alber bests Harding, he has Rauser and then Giraldo or Kraisser again, then most likely Hall or McGuire. Tough road for Harding. But he could make it past everyone he wrestles and finish as high as 7th or 8th.....wouldn't that be great..
