No one can deny the DT factor.
If any of us SOBs took a full year to devote to scripting the perfect sports moment, we could not even come close to what we saw tonight. Absolutely unreal. It is the greatest wrestling moment ever. Larry Owings upset was great, but I'm not even sure if it was on TV. The President of the United States certainly wasn't there to salute him. What Wyatt did was the peak of the sport.

I mean I get it. As great as Wyatt was, 5x champion probably is not an awful pick for that award.

I’m not sure I’ve ever been more proud of an OSU win than what Wyatt did. What a fantastic representative of Oklahoma state and what a great champion. He deserved this win.
Someone else posted that Rex Holt’s call at the end of the match was epic. Would love to hear that.
Outside of winning the natty (which was never possible) this is the best start to the DT era we could've hoped for...2-1 vs PSU in the semis and 2 champs that were considerable underdogs.

If any casuals stumble across this and actually need this info, Steveson was 101-2 in his college career coming into that match & both of those losses were in the 2018-19 season.
Add to that the fact that he hadn’t given up a takedown all season, was a 2x National Champion AND an Olympic gold medalist & he’s been literally unbeatable for the last 5 years.
I believe I saw DraftKings with Steveson at -3000 and Hendrickson at +1300. So absolutely massive, pretty much.
Fun way to end the night. When there was a brief stoppage with under a minute, after the mid-match dancing bears segment, I said to myself, Hendrickson is going to empty the tank. He did exactly that (looked a little like messenbrink), and I think it surprised gable that he still had that much quickness left in him.

Should is the operative word.
Because the Hodge is based on a vote the criteria become whatever each individual voter decides they are. I think it comes down to how many voters think Starocci's career is more impressive vs how many think Hendrickson's monumental upset, combined with dominance this year, is more impressive.

I was listening to Rex while watching tv with my ear buds. The radio feed was 15-20 seconds ahead of the tv and when I started twisting and turning, my wife couldn’t understand my reactions as the tv wasn’t showing any action.
Rex will need help in regaining his voice after last night.
Ultimately, it is a subjective event. Should’ve, could’ve, would’ve. 🤷🏼♂️ It was a hell of a finish
I texted Rex after the match and told him they HAVE to put final :30 of his audio on the video. I demanded it!!!!!!!
Not sure if I’ve felt like this about a sports moment since JL3’s 3 pointer v St Joseph’s in 04 to go to the final 4.

I completely disagree with that. What Wyatt did in this tournament was much more impressive than what Starocci did.
What a wrestler did in the past is irrelevant. It's supposed to be about what they did at this one tournament. What Wyatt did was far more impressive.

That is good but I don't think it compares with the broadcast. I don't know if it was Cormier or the other guy but whoever it was went absolutely crazy. First I scared my dog by screaming and the he scared the dog with his high-frequency screaming. Then to topped it off the commentary with a flat "Shut-up, shut-up" to nay-sayers or maybe Steveson's pre-match comments.

I was very impressed wit Steveson's behavior on the podium. He applauded, gave a thumbs up and patted Wyatt on the back when he was announced as champion.
For me it’s better…..way better. I’m also biased because I worked with Rex over 10 years. Some of my favorite calls in sports are radio calls. You are living it at that moment thru the call…..as I was last night with Rex. He’s one of us and it comes thru the call!
Absolutely. I believe that is the point of his military deferment. To assist the DOD in marketing/recruiting young people into the military.
I know someone who posts here that bet $25 on Wyatt at +1100 odds.
