I suspect that this is a ominous sign of things to come, the Well Fargo arena is currently selling all session tickets for $1900.. I suppose that I am slow on the acceptance process, it seems like the tournament has become a luxury item/ event.. $1900 per ticket is just too much for me given how well ESPN and Flo cover it these days.

I suppose there is still hope for getting a ticket through the ticket office, this is the last time I will be making travel arrangements ahead of time for this tournament. I have already got a hotel and plane tickets through Expedia that are non refundable..

It’s worth going even if you don’t attend much of the tournament.

The PWC is sponsoring get together events between sessions and tickets will be available for much less the closer we get.

Its still a pricey trip even if you get tix at a reasonable price. Flights, hotels, commuting daily (hotels near the event are easily $500 a night), food, overpriced beverages and then whatever you pay for tickets (say $500 each). 2 people, flying out of Tulsa, its easily a $4k trip for a 3 day event imo.

Yeah, that’s probably accurate…but it’s worth it!

Man, blood round is the best few hours in sports, of the year.

I don’t get choked up when Tom Brady runs and hugs his baby mama and the fist pumps by billionaire owners.

It’s like when Tuff rode an extra 8 seconds when a kid a follow fights and becomes an AA. So, 4K is cheap for our version of the Super Bowl.

It is definitely cheap when compared to other sports championships. We went to Vegas the last two years for CKLV and went to KC for NCAAs last march. KC was great and of course it was driving distance and there was plenty of bars and restaurants and bars right outside the venue, plenty of good hotels close, and it seemed like it was completely safe in that area. Great trip all around.

But I''m hearing that is possibly not the case in Philly. We still thought hard about going but the wife will be having a procedure the Friday before and wont be healed up in time to make the trip.

You'll be missed!

Philly does seem like a less than adequate place to host, but, it is what it is. I've been to quite a few and I'll rank them from my viewpoints.

-St. Louis 3x
-OKC 2x
-Tulsa 1x
-KC 1x

and I've been to another, but I cant remember which?

Philly has a lot of stuff, but not much in the area of the arena. I don't love the city (or even like the city🤣). Football and baseball stadiums are in the vicinity, but not a lot of restaurants or things to do from what I remember, so plan for uber depending on where you are staying - either between sessions or to and from the arena.

Where is the ledger?

Philly has a lot of great historic places to visit and I really enjoyed the last NCAA tournament held there. I would rank it high in terms of past tournaments and I have been to many. Already have room booked there for KC Scott and I and I am definitely looking forward to it.

If there’s anyone who can get tickets that isn’t going to use them this year, let me know

Got an email on Friday. $20 per ticket to get in the queue. $400 per in the upper deck. Based on Posse points with no preference to season ticket holders.

I spoke to someone today.. got my request in, but if anyone reading this gets a chance to get tickets and doesnt intend on going, please consider that my wife and I really want to go and will use the tickets. The gentleman I spoke to said that there were about 250 tickets to cover everything (families and fans) He said that last year they didnt get out of the "Cowboy VIP" level of donations, which is $16,500. My hope is that enough people will pass on tickets, otherwise I guess since we already have a room and flight paid for, we will go up and try to get tickets outside

If this is true, theres no way it’s not more this year. Sorry
more than $16500 for this year alone? Im not disagreeing, It is what it is.. It just seems like attending the tournament is becoming a luxury item.. I dont have an extra 16,500 to give away, so if thats what it takes to qualify for the chance to buy tickets at face value, I will never qualify to get tickets again until there are more tickets/ seats available.

Not sure the ticket office guy knew what he was talking about. I got tickets last year and I’ve never given that much in a year. Maybe he meant lifetime donations. Either way, the VIPs can get 12 tickets, even though they may never have bought a wrestling season ticket or darkened the door at a dual meet. That’s my main gripe about the process. You should only be able to buy as many NCAA tickets as you have season tickets. Or maybe +2 at most.

Ordered 2 tix a couple of days ago. Last year was the first year that I did not receive tickets that I ordered. I am a long time season ticket holder and low level donor Posse member. I was able to get tickets through a donor friend but that is certainly not ideal and as Cachap pointed out it sucks that a high level donor can get 12 tickets and not even attend matches on the regular.

There’s no way for me to say this without being crapped on, but here it goes.

The university has to support top donors in any and all fashion. If something as small as offering extra tickets works then it is what it is. I don’t want to donate 17k a year just to guarantee I have tickets (which as multiple of us has said isn’t true), but if that’s what it takes I’ll be glad there’s plenty of people ponying up for the school and I’ll pay 2-3x face for a ticket through third party.

Again, I’m not trying to bash anyone that can’t afford pricey tickets, but I don’t think the school is doing anything wrong here. Doesn’t mean I like it either, but I’m not gonna be upset about it.

Lastly, would fully support donors only being able to purchase x2 the number of season tickets they hold. And if that number is 0, still give them the chance for 2-4 if they’re VIP.

The situation has been heading a certain direction for awhile now.. The bottom line, in my opinion, is that the tournament has gotten more popular.. Tickets used to be $75 all session and there were plenty to go around. The hows and why's of that can be discussed on another post, but the fact remains that the tournament has outgrown the current stadium size and because of the current size and structure of the venues, the only place to go at this point is a baseball or football stadium.. What the NCAA Wrestling tournament needs is a 50k to 60k arena and I dont think theres currently anything right now that fits. Add to all this the corporate worlds ability to buy out the entire lower level, there just arent enough seats to go around. While I am dubious to the idea, lets see what happens when in goes to Viking Stadium. At least then, everyone who wants to be there live will be able to attend.

A small indoor stadium like the Alamo dome may be better option but I still don’t like the idea haha. I would be interested to see how they split it up to the schools more.

Here is my take on the NCAA ticket scarcity. I have been going to this tournament faithfully since about 1980 and I attended several after I graduated from OK State in 1964 before parenting took over for a few years in the late 60's and 70's. Until last year I never had any trouble ordering tx from OK State although in some years I got better seating getting them from an acquaintance. Last year I did not have enough posse points to get tx although I was at least on the list. I relied on a big donor for tx last year who I really did not know well but friends and relatives did. I appreciated him but with the scarcity of tickets this year I do not think I will be able to find them. I do not resent the big donors getting the tickets as without them our program will not grow the way we all want it to. I did go to the last tournament in Philly and really enjoyed it and it was one of my favorite in the approximately 50 I have attended. I am resigned to not going this year
although I do have rooms reserved. I can cancel them and I have not yet scheduled plane tickets and will not unless I can get tickets. At my age travel is not really my friend so in some ways I am relieved but I am sad that I and a lot of faithful fans do not have the opportunity to attend. I will be watching all I can on Flo or ESPN . This is not a plea for tickets but I would still attend if tickets dropped in my lap. In the meantime,
LETS GO POKES!!!.

My guess is someone will take care of you this year. They definitely should. Would you be ok with tickets in another teams section or just Oklahoma st?

I would be happy with two tickets together.
Been reading these boards forever and I know OB is an old timer who's been around forever. When a guy like him can't get tickets that pisses me off. He's earned the right to be there. Tickets have definitely become a huge problem and unless we move to football stadiums for good that's not gonna change
