The important lesson re Clinton’s tax increase on the wealthy (and tax cut for much of the middle class) was that the pubs who to a person, said it would wreck a feeble recovery, arguing that it would stifle investment, innovation, etc. These people could not have been more wrong. That is not to say that these tax increases/decreases CAUSED this great economic run, but EVERY SINGLE PUB, who spoke on the issue of tax increases were simply wrong.
