What if...

In all honesty, I likely have been pretty thin skinned the last ten days or so. In that period of time:

1. My father-in law passed...it wasn't a surprise, but f$&? Alzheimer's still;
2. Made the decision to leave the Catholic Church for how it has been treating my (likely, but not certainly) Gay daughter and begun looking for a new Church Home;
3. Dealt with some major league political wranglings at work (successfully, but still draining).
Hang in there JD. Regarding churches, I'm no expert as I don't claim anything religion wise, but I do know that there are a ton of options for people out there. I know you probably already know this, but there are plenty of gay friendly churches in OKC. Even if your daughter isn't gay, it's still nice to get out of a closed minded place for a change of pace.

Sorry to hear JD. Life kicks us in the nuts at times.

Lost my father in-law of 35 years on Halloween. Pancreatic cancer given 6 months to live and made it only one lucid week and two more weeks deteriorating in a bed.

Lost my mom the day after Christmas when she went in for a hip replacement and never made it out. Completely unexpected.

One thing I discovered out of both experiences. They both suck and it doesn't matter if you sit and wait for it to happen or if it is sudden.

Come down and drink some whisky on the porch. It'll get better.

Would love to some time.
