This is brutal. He sounds like a a little kid reading those Shriner hospital commercial donation ad cards. Brutal.

This poor bastard. He is in so far above his head. I honestly used to believe he was this evil genius but I was gladly mistaken. He is just a empty vehicle for others ideas. A President for hire if you will.

DIdnt watch. Enough entertainment value present to warrant searching for an online replay?

Thank you for the update. I didn't watch it, as it's gonna be a stream of lies, more promises that won't be kept, and appealing to the apeshit dumb, mad base.

Plus, e's shutting down the government so he can break a promise and make the U.S. taxpayer pay for the wall after he said Mexico would pay for it. 100%. WTF could he possibly say to mitigate that?

He really is pitiful, he has no grasp of facts or minutiae. He just blathers and lies to thish base. He's not mentally sharp enough for this job.

Without audio and watching from a distance my impression was three alien possessed corpses managed to get major TV airtime and then a bunch of Barbie and Ken dolls expressed tightly controlled rage and consternation while attempting to converse about what had just transpired.

Aka, dramatic interpretative nothing burger.

Did not see it but read about it. Trump being his typical Bozo self.

Kinda, yeah.

But Trump just warmed the stage up for these two to read off super uncomfortable canned responses - clearly guessed at and written before they heard the humanitarian angle Trump's actual address (which frankly was boring, bland and not super inspiring) actually took. He didn't deliver a home run, but he set them up to be defined by these positions:

1. Walls are Ineffective and Expensive (despite they themselves supporting them in the recent past).
2. This is a manufactured crisis - which will not resonate well after Trump focused on the human tragedy angle of illegal immigration.

You are correct about the ineffective part. Look at the Berlin Wall. It kept those East Germans in place for years. But they are correct about it being expensive. Have you ever known a government project to cost what they tell us it will cost? And they are also correct that it is a manufactured crisis. About 1/4th the number of people are illegally coming into the country as came in the year 2000. It wasn’t a national security issue then, but it is now? It’s a manufactured crisis ginned up to keep us in a constant state of concern/panic so the government can claim to be protecting us. All we have to do is cede just a tiny portion of our independence to the state, and look at the benefits it will bring. It a shell game that we fall for every time.

Tap the brakes Mr full blood libertarian.

I'm against government waste too, but there are some legitimate purposes of centralized government and securing our national borders seems clearly to be part of a national defense responsibility. Plus the comparative cost of the wall is virtually irrelevant compared to the foreign aide we piss away every year. As a component of our national budget it's basically walking around money.

Plus.... I'm not sure why this doesn't count as Mexico paying for the wall...

Trump really doesn't say much in that clip.

How does that count as Mexico paying for the wall? He basically said nothing, and at the end he threw in a line "even if we tax them they will pay for it." Tax whom? Mexico? Was he skirting around the truth calling a tariff a tax on Mexico? Not even DJT is that stupid. He apparently hopes we the people are that stupid. Tariffs on Mexican imports aren't taxes on Mexico, they're taxes on American consumers of those imported products. Therefore Americans will be paying for the wall. Trump is playing a shell game with the American people, throwing out distractions to hide the truth. I'm not saying he's the only politician to pull that stunt; hell, they all do it. But it is despicable no matter which politician does it, and we should not accept it from any of them, Trump included. Accepting outright lies, fibs, half truths, deceptions etc. from politicians should boil our blood regardless of the politician doing the lying.
