Trump Era New Job Announcements Thread

Amazon has several fulfillment facilities around the country to enable delivery to be as fast as possible. They have SLAs to meet which requires that proximity. For example someone in Austin purchases an item. They will ship it from one of their many warehouses in Texas, rather than one from California. From RTFA it mentions that they already have a sorting facility there opened last year, but this new one is going to offer the entire fulfillment shebang. Amazon is going to continue to grow their fulfillment centers in the areas that need them the most. If you know anyone in Colorado (especially Denver) all they talk about is how fast people are moving there since weed was legalized. In my mind that is much more of a driver of the need for the new facility than anything else.

Exploding consumer confidence and business sentiment don't factor into the equation?

There's a reason those ratios are tracked.

If it was a company that was previously struggling or not growing I'd agree, but in this case Amazon has been doing pretty well picking up on the shift from B&M stores to online shopping for the last 10 years. I don't think this is anything new.

Conversely, are job losses do to changing demographics, a business being poorly run, etc, kept from any totals?

US Private Sector Created 298K Jobs in Feb. vs. 190K Est.: ADP

http://www.cnbc.com/2017/03/08/private-sector-jobs-february-2017-adp.html

A few excerpts...

"Employment in the private sector surged by 298,000 for the month, with goods producers adding 106,000, ADP and Moody's Analytics said. Construction jobs swelled by 66,000 and manufacturing added 32,000.

"The total shattered market expectations of 190,000, according to economists surveyed by ADP. The blockbuster report also solidified market expectations for the Fed to hike interest rates next week. Probability for an increase jumped to 91 percent after the release, according to the CME.

"The report encompassed the first full month under President Donald Trump, who has pledged to rebuild the nation's aging infrastructure system.

"February proved to be an incredibly strong month for employment with increases we have not seen in years," Ahu Yildirmaz, vice president and co-head of the ADP Research Institute, said in a statement.

"In addition to the construction and manufacturing positions, mining and natural resources also contributed 8,000 to the total. Trump has promised to restore mining jobs as well.

"The year is off to a sizzling start for job creation, according to the ADP counts. January added 261,000 positions, a number that was revised upward from the originally reported 246,000.

"Confidence is playing a large role," Mark Zandi, chief economist of Moody's Analytics, told CNBC. "Businesses are anticipating a lot of good stuff — tax cuts, less regulation. They are hiring more aggressively.

"Services led the way with 193,000 new jobs, with 66,000 coming from professional and business services. Health care added 38,000 while information-related jobs came to 25,000."

Amazing what can be achieved for the American people when you get rid of the dead wood.

I guess pathetic job participation and lackluster economic activity is not necessarily the "new normal."

From the article:
"We haven’t fundamentally changed any of our plans, but we continue to look for ways to improve our operations and find ways to help the country, grow jobs and support economic growth," spokesman Pat Morrissey said.

So you want to beat your chest about 500 people planning to be recalled from a RIF of 1,100? Wow man - that Trump is something...

Manufacturing ‘Optimism’ Hits ’20-Year Record High

Donald Trump met with manufacturing executives at the White House Friday, during which he touted a new survey from the National Association of Manufacturers.

“Your survey shows that 93 percent of manufacturers now have a positive outlook on the future of their business in this country,” POTUS stated. “93 percent, and it was, just a few months ago, 56 percent.”

“That’s a slight difference,” he added, drawing laughter and applause from the room.

“That’s a 20-year record high,” Trump continued. “The highest it’s been in 20 years, and it is going higher.”

“The manufacturers are really starting to invest big money in a lot of things that are happening. It’s a new surge in optimism sweeping across the land. There is a vote of confidence in the plan to bring back jobs, lower taxes and provide a level playing field for our workers.”

NAM president Jay Timmons, who was present at Trump’s Friday meeting, attributed President Trump’s laser-like focus on pursuing bold action, particularly on rethinking red tape to address regulatory reform, to [accelerating] a jobs surge in America” in a statement accompanying the survey’s release.

“Manufacturers of all sizes are now less concerned about the business climate going forward because they are counting on President Trump to deliver results,” he continued. “Small manufacturers — more than 90 percent of our membership — are among the hardest hit by regulatory obstacles.”

“Regulatory costs for small manufacturers with fewer than 50 employees total almost $35,000 per employee per year — money that could otherwise go to creating jobs. It’s encouraging to see an administration so focused on providing regulatory relief to spur manufacturing growth.”

“We are grateful for the chance to meet with the president today as we continue to tell the White House directly which regulations are still the biggest obstacles to a manufacturing surge,” Timmons wrote. “There is much work to be done, and manufacturers have the solutions on regulatory reform as well as on infrastructure investment, workforce development, bold comprehensive tax reform and a host of other issues.”

Private Sector Reports Stronger-Than-Expected Boost to Payrolls in March

"Private-sector hiring this year remained strong as employers reported adding more workers to their payrolls in March than expected, according to a report released Wednesday.

Private payrolls across the nation rose by 263,000 last month, said payroll processor Automatic Data Processing Inc. and forecasting firm Moody’s Analytics. This was much better than a gain of 180,000 expected by economists polled by The Wall Street Journal. In February, ADP’s report showed the private-sector added 298,000 jobs. The report is based on data collected from ADP clients in addition to lagged behind government figures.

“The gains are broad based but most notable in the goods producing side of the economy including construction, manufacturing and mining,” said Mark Zandi, chief economist of Moody’s Analytics."

SOLID: 211,000 Jobs Created in April, Unemployment Falls to 4.4%

http://www.breitbart.com/economics/2017/05/05/6662086/

"The American job creation machine was re-ignited in April after a disappointing March. Payrolls grew by 211,000 jobs in the months and unemployment fell to 4.4 percent, the lowest since May 2007.

"The consensus forecast of economists was for job growth of 185,000 and for a slight increase in unemployment."

Employment Situation report out today (the one the ADP report tries to estimate). Prior two months revised down. This months number missed the consensus estimate by nearly 50,00 jobs. The participation rate is down to 62.7% and we actually lost manufacturing jobs.

President Trump took over at a time when expectations had been driven down, at a time when the numbers should have been far better, and at a time that will allow president Trump to improve on matters beyond greatly.
You hand out participation trophies every day or just today?
