I am sick and tired of us not making America first. We have NO duty to allow anyone into our country that we do not want. Let me say it again, we have no duty legal or otherwise to allow anyone that we do not want into our country.
I haven't checked yet on the validity of it, but I've seen it stated that part of the eo started that people of minority religions from these countries will be given preference on entry. If true that is effectively a Muslim ban.
I don't mind a temporary halt on immigration from certain countries. We do it from time to time for health and safety reasons. But.... We should not be factoring religion into it. We also should not be turning back people with green cards who already legally reside in the US.

No the article says there just isn't a cut and dried law against it. IMO it violates the 1st amendment, or at least the spirit of it. If you are closing the doors of entry to the US because they don't practice a religion you like, you are limiting the practice of that religion in the country and therefore the government is taking an active role in propping up certain religions and discriminating against others.
Even if you can argue that it doesn't violate the constitution or any laws, its a dangerous slippery slope to travel down. Vet immigrants equally. You start opening up holes for select religions then guess who is going to pretend to be that religion?
Its the same argument we had on the old NSB about the TSA racially profiling. When you start relying on things like race and religion, you become relaxed about the things you have convinced yourself aren't as threatening.
Religious freedom is one of the absolute cornerstones of our country, and trying to meander in and around it is dangerous even if legal. Just stay the **** out of it. The more we try to find loopholes and excuse special certain cases of religious interference, the further we slip down the rabbit hole.
If you think for one second george Washington wouldn't ban one eyed purple people eaters that threatened our country half as much as radical Muslim extremists you are nuts. Not after what he went through to make this country independent. We are not interning Muslims. We aren't killing them. I think domestic Islamic terrorism will be worse in the US 4 years from now. You do realize that his EO mentions only one country don't you? The Terrorist Travel Prevention Act of 2015, signed into law by Barack Obama in December of that year, banned admittance into the US and the Visa Worker Program for those who have traveled to Syria, Iraq, & Iran. Then in February of 2016 his administration added Libya, Somalia, and Yemen. So really all Trump did was expand on a law Obama supported.
