I’m not sure Biden ever was that guy. He has always been one of the least principled politicians of his day, which ultimately means he’s never had a single core philosophical
principle on which he based his life. He has been the ultimate “company man” his entire political career, having been assured that as long as he did what he was told and said what he was instructed to say his seat would always be safe, and he could enrich his family at the same time. The only thing different now is he’s being instructed to be a man of the left, not the “sensible” moderate he portrayed when the Democrats needed one they could point to. Plus, with his obvious cognitive decline I doubt he even knows what he’s advocating today.
