Justice Department sues Missouri over new gun law
DOJ sued Missouri over a contested new law banning local police from enforcing federal gun laws days after pulling out of a state crime-fighting partnership.

“A state cannot simply declare federal laws invalid,” said Principal Deputy Assistant Attorney General Brian Boynton, head of the Justice Department’s Civil Division, in a statement. “This act makes enforcement of federal firearms laws difficult and strains the important law enforcement partnerships that help keep violent criminals off the street.”
Was reading this article which contained the quote above. I'll be curious as to how this plays out, given that the exact same positions could be applied against sanctuary cities who choose not to enforce federal immigration laws. Who gets to choose which Federal laws can be ignored at that state and city level and which can't?
