You could get your point across much better if you made your point rather than saying "Charge him with a crime that a simple google search would show to be ridiculous."
Make a case for charging a hate crime, and I will debate you.
He mailed a threatening letter to himself which had it come from any other person would constitute a hate crime. Why is it any different if it comes from himself?
Maybe when the law was written they didn't figure someone would be stupid enough to perform a hate crime hoax. Obviously, the law needs to be changed. He can still be charged with a terror act. Lots of people in prison will fall in love with his smooth face and sleek form.
So in effect, the two brothers committed a hate crime as they perpetrated the hoax, whereas Jussie only committed conspiracy to commit a hate crime as well as felony-level filing of a false police report? Would that be accurate?
I think those brother's pretty clearly committed the crime for monetary not racial reasons.

Holy shit. I hope they do try to use the "those guys are homophobic" angle after the Chicago PD has determined by evidence that it was a hoax. Hopefully his defense team does the right thing and claims temporary insanity due to MAGA as his defense. That defense is a slam dunk.
I know that. I was referencing the article that claims Smollett's legal team could use "You GAY" "he GAY" tweets to paint the brothers as homophobes. I hope his defense does that. It will be pure comedy.
