Hey progressives. Did you know that in addition to all those hard working noble Mexican families simply seeking a better life, and of course, lamentably... Rapists, drugs and cartel gangs...

There are also a growing number of OTM's. Among OTM's are documented nationals from Iran, Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan and Pakistan! Those are the ones we caught.

I'm sure none of these people are dangerous and there are no illegal contraband like drugs or (oh no!!!) arms making it through.

I could link it, but I'll let you weak noodles google it for yourselves.

no big deal right?

Hells yeah! More DemocRAT votes! Illegal is just a state of mind.

Mega probably works along these lines...the Mexican gov't being one of the more corrupt in the America's has numerous officials on the take from the drug cartels, the drug cartels are getting paid to smuggle the ME males/terrorists through Mexico to the US border and then getting them into the US. The government officials look the other way and you have one of those parasitic life cycles that you often see posted on the wall of your vet's office.

Exactly why I won't go to Mexico (or any blue state for vacation)....not popular with the wife and I know many here go to Mexico as well. For me won't spend my hard earned $$$$ in shitholes or liberal shitholes.

Have been watching a show on TV called "Airport Security: Colombia". It's a series on the workings of El Dorado Airport in Bogota. It shows them catching lots of people smuggling drugs into and out of Colombia as well as people violating their immigration laws. Last night, they showed the interception of a number of Pakistanis using fake passports to enter Colombia with the intent to eventually get to the US. There was one Syrian arrested for having fake documents and rearrested two days later with another set of fake documents.

Wait, what?
Yeah. What davidallen said. Illegals are illegals without regard to the flavor. Let's make sure we make them feel welcome and give them all the benefits the tax payers have the money for. If we don't have enough money, just put it on the credit card.

There is no border problem. The only problem is the bigots who want to deny the illegals their rightful place in this free country. Hell, the terrorists in that group can get jobs here and we all know that jobs make terrorists non-terrorists. And, they can be at ground zero of climate change prevention and we all know that eliminating climate change makes terrorists less terrorist. The EPA should be in charge of counter terrorism.

We have all the tools we need to make terrorists stop being terrorists right here in the good ol USA. Let's just bring them all here and we can stop this nonsense of them killing us and us killing them.

So.... we're doomed? I'm just thankful to have you guys standing vigilant and brave, with your assault weapons, monitoring those airport security shows.

Are you old enough to remember a guy named Morton Downey Jr.?

Deflection. Nonsense. Silliness.

If you were at all serious about stopping gun violence this wouldn't be a joke to you.

You've seen the chart. Unless and until you have a coherent rebuttal I'm not taking you serious in a conversation about gun violence.

Translation, I'm crying because I've got nothing but that chart.

Seriously, remove suicide and gang banging, and what's left? Not much for concern.

Well regulated militia, chuckle.

I kind of checked out in that thread when I asked Glove and you the same questions and you both went tits up.
Pussy. You're one of those yappy brainless twits that can't even defend himself while sitting behind the anonymous keyboard and computer screen. No wonder you own 30 guns.

For the record, @davidallen dodged any actual comment. @07pilt (probably wisely) avoided it altogether. And @syskatine did his basic "have you had enough?" after straight getting mugged for half a week, and used his fantasy of victory as an excuse not to comment on a direct request to do so.

Oh, and sys... once and for all - your graph is shit. This was posted in that 4 page curb stomp that you did read but probably don't remember.

And of that .000008%, a whopping 4.1 % are rifles (an AR is a rifle). Of that 4.1% what proportion do you think are actually rifles that would be subject to being banned? For example, not deer rifles - which are MUCH higher powered than an AR which basically shoots a high velocity .22 caliber projectile. Let's be charitable and say fully HALF of all American rifles are scary black kinds. So that leaves 2.05% of .000008% (I don't even know how to do the math on that, but it's a lot of .000000000 before any kind of number) of all realistic danger of gun death is by assault rifle.

fig4.png

You want to change gun death numbers UK and @07pilt? Here's how you do it.

1. Leave the f*ing Constitution alone. Forget the fantasy of banning scary rifles. It's PR yammering. As I demonstrated above, it does nothing. Easily concealed hand-guns are your real killer, and if you think banning assault rifles is hard, try taking people's pistols away. And speaking of pistols, legally armed good guys are by far the best way to deter gun violence and stop shootings from the inside. Ask a cop or two. They generally tend to consider a citizen who has done the right things to get a CCP a "good guy" who is an asset, not a hinderance to their job. These mass shootings you guys lose your shit over every few months almost exclusively happen in gun free zones. DO THE MATH.

2. tighten up the existing background check red flags and at minimum institute a mandatory waiting period for people on a watch list or who have been questioned by the FBI specifically about terrorism. Clean up the watch list and get people off of it who shouldn't be. Create a clearing house where you can quickly and efficiently get incorrectly assigned people OFF of this list when mistakes are made. At minimum, given the Orlando shooter's background, an automatic 3 day waiting period should've been triggered. Conservatives need to be open minded to the evolving threat of terror and unfortunately this is an area where concessions need to be made. Background checks and flagging people on FBI lists are great, but that needs to be the final line in the sand for the NRA. Nothing more.

3. GANG VIOLENCE - enforce existing laws. Institute much harsher mandatory sentencing for any crime committed with a firearm. Clear out the prisons by legalizing pot, and fill em back up with offenders of gun violence. NO early release. Make it truly life changing, and not a badge of honor to the criminal world.

4. SUICIDES - our country has a deplorable mental health system, compared to what it should be. Helping suicidal people should obviously be a huge priority rather than simply eliminating an efficient way to do it when they make that decision. On the one hand, if you are pro-choice, that should extend to someone wanting to self-abort right? And why make them do something more likely to leave them a vegetable (jumping, hanging, carbon monoxide, drowning) than something that gets the job done? ON THE OTHER HAND, help these people before they do it instead of blaming the f'ing tool they used.

5. Gun education - when I was a kid, we had a pellet gun shooting class in school. A public school! Gun safety was taught. This I believe, greatly reduces the "accidental" gun deaths statistic. Education. Respect for lethal weapons. Teach people to use them and be responsible with them. I know this is blasphemous in today's America, but this is essential. It also would be nice if the proponents of gun control could be bothered to educate themselves on guns so they don't sound like complete morons when they talk about them. The internet is full of hilarious videos of politicians holding a gun for the first time in their pampered lives surrounded by armed security, talking about this thing they know nothing about. Education. Banning guns is basically the equivalent of salem witch trials and burning books by uneducated puritan rubes.

So there you go.. Problem solved. Graph destroyed (again).

Be men. Be free men and respect other free men's right to self determine things like guns.
______________

My point of the OP by the way, is to illustrate that the border is part of the problem both of illegal guns and as a pathway for elements who aren't your basic Mexican drug gangs to enter this country with terrifying ease. We have been used by BOTH PARTIES. One wants easy votes. One wants cheap labor. Anyone else arguing for open borders is arguing for undocumented terrorists and for truckloads of unknown weapons and ordinance.

Get a clue and quit being a goddam parrot for your party. Grow up and just take notice of a few other things while we are at it.

There is no wage gap. No glass ceiling.

Culturally we are effectively post-racial and post-women's liberation. It's being artificially stirred up by hate groups like BLM and various social justice warriors who are effectively playing dress up and pretending to be activists like the people who went into Birmingham Alabama in the 60's to fight ACTUAL social injustice. What do these have to do with the debate over guns? Well, the atmosphere artificial activists create exists to put the focus on things that are not threats. There is a severe supply and demand problem for these people. Not enough bigots and injustice by the Christian patriarchy to fill the need for their angsty rebellion, so when a terrorist attack happens, they naturally have to focus on something other than a minority group just f*ing hating them and wanting to kill them.

The reaction by various groups after this nightclub shooting with all the pithy John Lennon, love not hate memes is insipid foolishness. Islamists hate gays. They hate jews. They hate Christians. They are the nazis of our time, and we spend more time trying not to offend them than we do trying to understand how defeat them. The narrative of tolerance is literally more important than the lives they take. Our president cannot even verbalize who they are.

Feel free to debate any of the above points. Anytime.

As I wander around this here thread, I find myself wondering how somebody can be blown to that microscopic of pieces without the use of explosives or other powerful pressure creating devices.

Ouch. And DAAAAAAAAAY UM.

So a day after posting and being mocked and ignored, today the CIA director came out with a grown up accounting of our actual lack of progress.

-----

"Brennan warned that the group already is preparing more attacks, including by infiltrating refugees into western nations."

""We judge that ISIL is training and attempting to deploy operatives for further attacks," he said. "ISIL has a large cadre of Western fighters who could potentially serve as operatives for attacks in the West. And the group is probably exploring a variety of means for infiltrating operatives into the West, including refugee flows, smuggling routes, and legitimate methods of travel."

Refugees? Smuggling routes? Wait, what @davidallen ?

Wow. Mega. I didn't read all that, but it appeared kind of substantive at first glance. I would like to congratulate you on posting some thought provoking stuff. My day job regrettably has occupied my time recently, but I'll try and give you a response this weekend.

I agree here. 32K isn't a justification for stupid gun laws especially AR-15 gun laws. That the chart above that writes off victims of gang violence, suicide, and accidents comes off as pretty callous. And also the math is completely off. You address gangs and suicides below, and 32K/312M is still a staggeringly small number. So why include the chart? When the facts are on your side there is no need to include such shoddy propaganda.

<heel turn> Gotta disagree here. Having a list that curtails people's rights without due process is antithetical to the values of this country. How quickly you forget the leaked memos from the FBI that talked about being on the look out for right wing terror groups. That list includes you at the stroke of Obama's pen.
The point of legalizing pot isn't to clear out the prisons (though that is a nice side effect) it is to eliminate the massive black markets where gang violence thrives. Legalize all drugs. Invest all of the DEA money in communities affected by gangs.
If some one wants to commit suicide it is up to them, but just like abortions we should try to help people avoid those situations in the first place. Gun ubiquity does increase the suicide rate. That being said the best way to lower gun ubiquity is to quit talking about gun control. Every time there is a mass shooting the Smith and Wesson stock goes up because the ensuing guntroversy inevitably leads to increased gun sales. This has been such a liberal/conservative partisan battle that gun ownership is now a tribal marker.
My point of the OP by the way, is to illustrate that the border is part of the problem both of illegal guns and as a pathway for elements who aren't your basic Mexican drug gangs to enter this country with terrifying ease. Any terrorist who can fly to Mexico and cross the boarder can just skip the middleman and fly to the US and walk his/her visa or just do all the terrorizing while still on a visa. Terrorism happens. We have to deal with it. It is going to get worse before it gets better. Up until now all the terror has been committed by people who are here legally.
There is no wage gap. No glass ceiling.

We spend more time trying not to offend our allies within their religion so that we can ultimately defeat them. The biggest recruiting tool you can give ISIS is to name Islam as the enemy.

What is your plan for defeating ISIS/radical islam?

Lol, yes, I'm keenly interested to hear your public policy positions. I'm sure they're well reasoned and objective.
A simple request consisting of three parts:

Provide a link to historical documentation of the time that indicates "well regulated" referred to regulation by the government in regards to the 2nd.

Similarly, provide a link to historical documents of the time that indicate "militia" referred to an inclusion of the government instead of an exclusion.

Lastly, explain why the Second Amendment was written and how it gives the federal government any regulatory power.

If you can do those, I'll not post here again under any circumstance until 1/1/17. If you can't, you can't, but maybe then you can openly acknowledge your Second Amendment arguments are not factually based and serve no purpose in gun law debate.

Your call. Not much for you to lose here but a little pride. If you can pull it off I'll start believing in miracles.

Hahahaha! Nope, no response so far. I strongly suspect there won't be even with my simple compelling offer. Not because he doesn't have the time/energy, but because he can't and doesn't want to admit it. It's a topic he's actively avoided. "He" is syssykatine, AKA Cupcake. Or Pussy. Take your pick.

I'm not gonna improve on Pilt's response, it's dead-on from the first sentence. A few random points:

Ya know... a link to those statistics might be appreciated. I appreciate you passing that along, with all 180% of firearm deaths itemized. Why do you spread that transparently wrong (180%.) crap?

That said, why do you minimize the net number of that 180% math? If a product or foreign country killed 11,000 Americans we'd all freak out. And are homicides and gang shootings overlapping? What makes it a gang shooting? It's a little racist to exclude blacks shooting blacks, like they don't count. Why are gang shootings not countable?

Why do you care so much about a whopping 4.1% of guns?

I don't know why people drink bud lite, but they do. I can argue the taste all day, people drink the hell out of it -- and in western, modern, stable democracies where they Restrict gun ownership, they have a fraction of the firearm deaths. I don't know why, but they simply don't kill as many innocents as they do -- by your own phantasy math, thousands of WHITE people, not those meaningless gang shootings. That's not an opinion. It's not a world view - it's simple math. Math.

I can't tell what you're for, either. You're for databases and lists and restrictions of dissidents' rights?

07, I'll get to you later this weekend. A thought out reply deserves a thought out answer.

sys, you are lazy. And as such, I am going to post two videos instead of type. Now, before you decide not to watch them, just know that for my reply I would basically be researching exactly the things stated in them. It approaches your silly gun death numbers, but from a little different direction than I did earlier in this thread and frankly I think makes an even better point.

The truth about gun violence numbers AND the reality of America's ranking in the world.

And in this one, the question of why an AR??? Why do you neeeeed one??? is answered, not by a politician, but by a Navy Seal who teaches weapons courses to civilians. I already know your first objection will be you don't need a rifle for home defense because, walls, sheetrock etc. What you don't know is where people live - how much range they may need and how long they need to be prepared to defend themselves. At the end of the day, it's not about making it a fair fight for the guy with a saturday night special. It's about making it a fair fight in a worst case scenario. We have a right to be armed to the same level as potential bad guys. See? No corrupt government narrative (yet). I just kept it at the home defense level and so does this killer video.
