OK STATE VS. ARIZONA STATE

That is something the coaches could look at after Vagas and the holidays. I don't like how Young is looking, and Jamison is wrestling solid but not great. However, Hughes is looking good at 133 so far.
Really like how Spratley wrestled he seemed very quick and got the pin against a guy who tried hard but I don't think he is very good. Hughes was dominant with a tech against an opponent who is questionable. Jamison wrestled solid and won a decision. Young had a bad weekend and today lost to a good opponent. Young not finishing takedowns was a problem. Good for Sheets being dominant but against an opponent who did not look good. Amine's lack of offense really cost him against a solid opponent. He got to his opponent's legs twice getting the leg up in the air once but got no takedowns. Losing the takedown in overtime almost seemed like a relief to get out of this match. I have seen matches where is desire seemed questionable, and this was one of those matches. Hamiti won easy with a major but did not seem to be at his best. Plott won by major grinding his opponent when on top but could have gotten more takedowns although he did have a real nice double leg in the 3rd period. Surber won by major and wrestled strong. Hendrickson dominated Schultz and should have gotten a major but gave up a takedown because Schultz rolled through a great shot by Hendrickson. I was surprised by how easy Hendrickson's match was for him with his speed, strength and explosiveness. Most wrestled good and a few didn't.

Just talked to a guy that was there and knows a little bit.

With the recruits in, a multiple weigh-in tourney and just the jump in outside activity…there was a ton of working out and limit pushing. An early season March if you will?

Our guys were tasked(not spent) in all phases. Considering that, they weren’t peak.

You definitely have to train thru at times it's about peaking for March . Typically teams pick another event in the year to peak for. Imagine Cliff Keen is the focus currently

Multi weigh-in tourney close, this was simulation to that in a way.

You said what I was thinking.

To get the best line-up, considering the contested weights:

133: Witcraft or Hughes
141: Hughes or Jamison
149: Jamison or Travis
157: Travis or Sheets

Some good problems to have.

but the best lineup is:

Witcraft
Hughes
Jamison

Everyone loves Young and he's such a hard worker. But a jamison with more energy, Cael at the weight he wants and a Witcraft that looks like a dog... whoo buddy.

Young hasn't looked great. I think it is a conversation worth having. That being said ... its four duals. Seems a tad to early to pull the plug on Young.

Did anyone notice that most our Oklahoma boys looked great out there?

Eufaula (pop 2,766) with a pin
Stillwater (pop 48,394) with a tech
Stilwell (pop 3,700) just one TD from a tech
Tuttle (pop 7,413) just one TD from a tech
Again, Tuttle (pop 7,413) just one TD from a tech

Don’t get me wrong, I love them “Yankees” and will take all we can get but, great job out there guys!

This is the problem with top programs.
Right now you’ve got a least 1 weight with a logjam where both guys look more deserving of being on the mat than the guy starting at a different weight.

We’ve been seeing guys get chance after chance for years. In a competitive situation like this - which everyone wants and has signed up for - you have to perform to keep your spot.

You missed the leg ride?
I guess I just forgot seeing it (I turn 68 tomorrow) and I shouldn't have mentioned it at all. Comparing these guys, negatively, to their "legendary" fathers is not right and I regret it. I should have just said that when he tried the first high-crotch on Friday I got a little chill of excitement and when he hit the one for a take-down Sunday (if I remember correctly), I was more than pleased. It was the same when Wyatt would throw in the leg.

If you weren't around to see father Mike wrestle, you are very unfortunate. John Smith, Sheets and Monday were all works of art.

I don't disagree at all. If the coaches made the move this early I get it.

I'm just not 100% sold we have to get Witcraft in the lineup yet. I would like to see him wrestle some real competition. He has looked good but he should against the two guys he has faced so far. Young, while he hasn't looked great, has had a much tougher schedule. Vasquez and Willochell are two guys who will should be at NCAAs. They aren't pushovers.

I'm not against benching Young. The coaches see these guys in practice every day. I trust them to make the right call. All I am saying is we are still dealing with an extremely small sample size.

On top of that, I know Hughes has had his issues with making 133 but he doesn't not like massive for the weight to me.

Fun weekend. Guys were scrappy. Love the relentless energy from several of the weights. Looking forward to seeing Hughes against higher competition.

This was my thought too. Would love to be proven wrong but I don’t think Hughes has the strength for 141 yet.

I also don’t think Jameson should be bumped up at least yet. He has had zero offense through 4 duals. If he shows more in the first and maybe second then gasses out I would be more tempted to say he need to bump but this weekend he spent 6 min (P1 both duals) circling and being pushed around. I have no reason to think that changes because he adds 7-8 pounds.
