Squeak, my wife is Brazilian from São Paulo and most of the place is indeed a shithole. Tell you though there are some other spots in Brazil, Manaus (Amazonia) is a horrible place.
She never wants to live there again....

I've been through the slums in Lima and they were pretty bad as well. Going to say the worst I've ever seen though is in Mexico.

One interesting thing about São Paulo, it has some of the best restaurants in the world. I ate at Domo, which is top 10. Had an Amazonian ant covered in gold flakes. Tasted like lemon cello.

His whole argument was why don't we do it on merit of the applicant and not just throw green cards at countries that are dysfunctional.

So does this mean your outrage isn't over the use of the "s" word, but rather that he actually called some of the worst governed, 3rd world countries in the world "s*holes"? Because parallels are irrelevant if you are stating that cursing is unbecoming of the office of the president (which I believe). But it sounds like you aren't upset with the language itself, but rather the political incorrectness of stating the truth. But I won't put words in your mouth.
