Nice, France 73 killed in terrorist attack.

Remember the good old days when everything was the fault of America? And how it was our fault that we got attacked on 9-11?

Is this getting a little more complicated than that now?

Well, this is, specifically, the 24/7 Politics board.
You're take is 100% valid. In free-flow feeds/forums especially, like FB, reflection would be nice thing.

Election year exacerbates the need for first-mover advantage in establishing the "narrative" before the other team does.
We can be better.

We can be better.

I assume your statement applies specifically to what you quoted of my words. My initial comment withstanding, by definition, your posting and responding here makes you a consumer on the 24/7 Politics board.

Your statement comes across abrasively. Given where you are consuming, it is also out of place. Not without merit as a desire, but the indignation can be checked at the door.

If you interpret that I came after you in my initial statement, I assure you that I was not. I was, however, asking you to be mindful of that which you alluded to so heavily in the Dallas shooting discussion, to be mindful of context regarding involved parties. In this case, discussing politics on a board set aside specifically for that purpose.

I didn't feel any attack.

I don't believe that any forum is immune from proper respect for tragedy. This applies most strongly to social media but here as well.

Did mega disrespect this tragedy?

Given what I know of Mega, through years on this board, I assume he is very respectful of the tragedy and those affected.

Where am I wrong in that belief about him?

Is it disrespectful of a situation to be angry about it and the politics that you perceive to allow it to persist? To me it seems disrespectful to not look immediately for ways to prevent it from happening again.

If Mega feels like he was attacked, he can defend himself or quit being such a huge pussy. ;)

Lol. Fair enough. I don't feel like jousting either. I don't imaging Mega feels attacked, and mentioning him/this post is only a proxy for discussing the behavior you made a statement about.

You seem like a competent listener and very introspective, qualities that would do us all, and society, very well if there were more of it.

I guess what I'm saying is that the world would be a lot better if everyone were a little more Fonzie. Ayyyyyyyye

A ban on assault trucks? Nobody needs a truck that big.

Are they killing 24,000 people a year? If so, it's in the table.

I'll take the same approach: "See? Registration and licensure didn't work! Strike all the vehicular homicide laws, because people are still killing each other! No more socialistic CDL's or truck registration! We need MORE assault trucks, not less!"

There are 24000 assault rifle deaths in America every year? Wow.. Man that changes everything. Great analogy.

What is the number at which we should start caring?

That assault truck killed and injured more folks than the assault rifle did in Orlando, and killed nearly a third of the annual number of rifle deaths in the US in ONE pass. I mean come on.

Why would you want such a powerful weapon of war to be in the hands of losers like the guy in France? Do you like losers having a weapon that they are able to plow and kill at will?

A final thought. How do you stop a loser killing folks with an assault truck? Shoot him with an assault rifle...

He's fine with government storm troopers having assault rifles. He just doesn't want you to have one.

This guy killed nearly twice as many people with a truck than the worst mas murder in the US by a man using a scary looking rifle.

The only thing that stops a bad guy with a truck is a good guy with a truck

Don't storm troopers use blasters? In this country it's the insane, the criminal, the loser, the guy that wants to kill lots of people that uses assault rifles. And hunters. Well, not hunters, right? Pretty much only people that fantasize about shooting other people. Or is there another use for assault rifles that I've missed?

What a dumbass. Where'd you hear that?
Yes, you are a dumbass, again. Time and time and time again. You should try to strengthen up that sphincter that lets the diarrhea flow from your head to your fingers.

2014 - total homicides by rifle = 248.

2016 - Nice France number killed by assault truck in one incident (so far) = 84

84/248 = 0.339 or roughly one third.

Dumbass.

And if you look real close, you'll note death by rifle has been DECREASING.

Dumbass.

What the f Does hunting have to do with anything?

but to answer your question. People use things you misidentify as assault rifles to hunt with all the time. Google. <------ Check it out.
