Does Ghadali have a covid year? I checked wrestlestat and it says he redshirted in 2020 so I would think he does. If so he could have 2 more years.

Trumble is a Junior this year and I would say the favorite to win Nationals next year at HWT. Him or Bastida.

I am not sure Kueter is there yet. He is good, but in my eyes he is just not at the level of Trumble and Bastida yet. He has one decent win this year against Feldman, who I would say has gone backwards in development since last year. Next years HWT class is not strong at all compared to the last ten or so years. People on here are talking about Doucet being an AA next year, that right there shows that the HWT class is weak. I could be dead wrong though! haha
100% it seems very weak. I would argue though it’s not as bad as it would look if we never had guys like Gable/Kerk/Wyatt. They raised the bar.
Don't forget to throw Parris, Cassioppi, Schultz, Davison, Elam, Wood, Stencel, Cassar, Snyder, Coon, Gwiz and plenty more. We have been spoiled with some good HWT's to watch for a long time now.
Agreed. It has been a very good last 10 years at heavy. The next couple years may be lean until Ross, Mocco, and Mirasola arrive on the scene with several others.
This staff will look to the portal to address any weak spots. Pretty simple.

I’m sure there are several through the application process and interviews will happen after NCAAs.
I’m hearing a lot of the Iowa team is pretty pissed off about the amount of NIL Bassett got & and are looking to get out. Sources say we can have anyone on that team we want.

Seth had a great interview with Dee Lockett after he won his state title. Said he talked to the coaches and he won’t be redshirting next year. Getting after it right off the bat!
Was wondering what the "big news" was. Dee had pretty much already said he wasn't redshirting, including a post calling his shot as the 2026 NCAA champion at 165. I guess the news is that the coaches ok'd it. Did he reconfirm he'll be at 165 as well?

165 will have some very tough wrestlers returning next year. He is going to have his hands full as a true freshman!
I'm telling you. This is what you want. He's all full of piss and vinegar. And Mesenbrink has another year after that anyway. So either way, he's going to have to beat him to win 4.
Keep in mind Dee has spent more time in an RTC than any athlete ever. He's never going to be more ready than next year when he's the underdog and just riding that wave.
Now... If DT had just listened to me and RS'd everyone he could this year... whoo buddy.

Ya I was thinking 149/157 for Robideau. Routledge 157/165. Dee 165/174. Ramirez 133. Vega 133/141.
I would like Dee to redshirt because next year we are not winning Nationals but also because of Mesenbrink. My observation is a wrestler usually jumps levels between the 1st and 2nd year at college. As I see it Dee has a better chance of beating Mesenbrink in 2 years versus next year. I hope Dee gets a chance in freestyle against Mesenbrink this spring or summer to assess how close he is to Mesenbrink. Dee has the talent but Mesenbrink breaks everybody with his unbelievable pace. Also I think Robideau would be a 149 would be his lowest weight class. I think Vega who is very thin and tall his lowest weight class would be 141. Dee is ready to be a high All American next year. Vega, Robideau and Routledge likely are not ready to place high next year and so why not redshirt them?
His strength is just fine. And he's probably going to be a bit bigger than Mesenbrink.
You're not going to see the typical Cowboy Bulk Job anymore (especially since Calcagno is no longer "on staff" for the wrestling team)
Pretty sure you're going to see Hughes and Jamison bump. It will be interesting to see where Vega wrestles. Could be 133 or 141.
What are the odds Dee doesn’t want a regular redshirt because he knows he’s taking an Olympic redshirt for LA 2028? Kid may not want to spend 6 years in college when he’s a legitimate Olympic aspirant.
This was my thought also. As it sits there is no way he doesn’t go for it.
Currently not on the table. Closest that will happen is what wrestling currently has and football has. (but apparently not every sport does) Will be able to wrestle a limited number of official competitions and keep redshirt.
For sure. And as much a redshirt means less overlap with Messenbrink, that’s another year he has to balance school with wrestling without getting to actually compete. I wouldn’t blame him for wanting to get to full time training ASAP, ya know?
