We can't even spell NEL at PSU. We dumOSU doesn't do that.
We have a small call center where phones get answered and taking applications to be considered for transfer and it's a 3-part interview process.

Shut your ho mouth! 😠🤣Agree completely. I've said many times that I don't see OSU seriously competing for titles until 2030 for the reasons you state. The recruiting pipeline takes at least two years to produce any fruit and 5-6 years to reach maturity. Cael winning in two years was mainly because there was no dominant program existing at the time to overcome.
Agree mostly but I don’t think these guys will need that long to bake. It’s not 5-6 years. ‘27 & ‘28 should be TOUGH squads imo.Agree completely. We also have to take into acct how big it is that all of these super Seniors are going to hand around.I agree if we are not challenging in the next 3 years with the young talent, we are bringing in I would have to believe our coaching staff are not real good or our bad luck continues. Now days it is common for great high school wrestlers to shine brightly early. We have high school wrestlers beating top college or post college stars with regularity. If you can not develop young talent like Merrill, Ross, Lockett, Vega, Robideau, Forrest, Thompson, maybe Sakamoto or Spratley, Hughes, Jamison and Routledge you should lose your job or for sure should not be paid what our staff is being paid. I disagree with Pennstate1985.
Mystery recruit? We also have to take into acct how big it is that all of these super Seniors are going to hand around.
These young guys are going to get kicked in the teeth everyday in practice. It’ll really speed up the learning curve
If Rin can be who we think…
‘27
25-sprat
33-Rin/Jax
41-Vega/Jax
49- Wolbert/Vega
57-Robideau
65-Routledge
74-Dee
84-BT/Transfer
97-Merrill
HWT-Ross
There is also an outside shot at another mega ‘26 recruit coming in at 65-84 range (84 is only if he grows as big as his dad).
I think we could also see a scenario where guys pull hard and you move
33-Jax/Vega
41-Wolbert/Vega
49-Robideau
57-Routledge
65-Dee
74-?(maybe that mystery recruit)
A lot to be excited about either way
You've very high expectations for Wolbert he's a solid prospect but I don't see him beating Vega out for a spot. He could end up being as good as you say but currently he can't be put in the same tier as VegaWe also have to take into acct how big it is that all of these super Seniors are going to hand around.

He definitely may but you cant put him on the same level of recruit as Vega currently that's all I'm sayingHe may surprise I think

I’ll say this… Kellen is a year younger and Vega wasn’t rated top 20 on Flo’s ‘25 big board when he is was going into his Jr year. We’ll see how it goes this summer and through K’s senior yearagree
True BUT Vega is more accomplished to date so I get the opinion. I think Wolbert comes into his own but it is a discussion point at this time.I’ll say this… Kellen is a year younger and Vega wasn’t rated top 20 on Flo’s ‘25 big board when he is was going into his Jr year. I think he's in the lineup next year. He's definitely ready and likely slots at 165 but could go 157. He's an older HS SR and assume he's done growing.Dee doesn't need a RS. He ready.
Dee likes to work in his matches. He could be a big pinner if he wanted to be in HS.Dee isn't a big pinner. Now I might've believed your joke had you said tech his way thru
Makes sense, but can orange national handle a “punt” year?Haines would need a RS to be there I messed that one up .But Van Ness will be with his medical RS he has 2 years remaining after this one.
I agree I would RS Lockett regardless he's not beating Mesenbrink at 165 next year and will be a small 174 and Haines will be back. Have 4 years of Jax, Lockett and Ross in the line up together
Yeah, probably at least 3-5 years. Heck, with the funding, the excitement, the influx of NIL, growing RTC, growing recruiting, the evil emperor Cael Palpatine, the two Stooges and slum lord Bob,…. We could be ready sooner. 😉Agree mostly but I don’t think these guys will need that long to bake. It’s not 5-6 years. ‘27 & ‘28 should be TOUGH squads imo.

Well, he looked raw in the matches I saw. I may be in the minority, but unless they are top tier, ala Bo, Jax, Blaze, I like them to be a little rough around the edges. I feel like there is growing room and they can jump levels easier. When they are a finished product, they are about as good as they are going to be their first year, sometimes worse. Plus, the system he came from was very good. Also, the coaches think very high of him. It’s good enough for me.Wolbert is going to be very good and surprise a lot of people

Ben? Are you talking about Mower?I don’t!
I’m excited to see Ben’s development.
Gotcha lost me there. Ben will keep churning out studs that's for sure. Iowa not being in the mix for those kids wont help things that's for sureNo, Askren development.

2030 sounds about right, maybe 2029. Those thinking we'll seriously compete for a title much sooner may not fully appreciate the gap between Penn State and the rest of college wrestling. Realistically to beat Penn State a team almost needs a title contender at every weight class and to get that OSU will need about 3 top recruiting classes in a row to reach maturity. So for instance the class of 2025, 2026 and 2027 will need to mature. These recruiting classes with be 5, 4 and 3 years in the program by 2030, so that sounds about right. If we’re going to beat PSU… the kids wont be that developed when we push. Everything is sped up. This sounds just as insane to me but If these kids we’re taking now aren’t good enough (or if we’re not developing well enough) for them to push for a finals appearance in their 1st couple years then we aren’t catching up. Nearly every young kid PSU rolls out is a finalist or close to it almost immediately. Luke is that level, Blaze will be, Kasak is, MM is, Levi is was, Carter was, Brooks was, Barr is.2030 sounds about right, maybe 2029. Hard to say currently. Penn st has something special going on with development. They take guys and make them champions in 1 year. I believe Oklahoma St guys have improved this year for sure . Time will tell if DT and staff are able to get kids that good that fast. Barr was looking solid last year but not a world beater and now he is in the title conversation.Lets see how top talents Thompson and Merrill look next year and that will be a good gaugeIf we’re going to beat PSU… the kids wont be that developed when we push. If theyre not good enough to bite as pups then we’re in trouble imo.
