NCAAs 2022

I missed seeing his match and only saw that he (and Plott) made the quarters. Sorry I’m not up on things as much as some of the die-hard wrestling fans in here, but the fact that we’re nowhere close to Penn St. or Michigan or even Iowa and Missouri proves my point.
Context is important. We have 2 starters (1 AA and 1 NC) out with season-ending injuries, 2 starters wrestling through significant injuries, and half of our lineup in this tournament are freshmen (1 true freshman, 3 redshirt freshmen). We're getting beat down this tourney, yes, but the important part is if we fold or bounce back stronger moving forward.

I was wondering how the cancel culture crowd would handle this. Put your pitchforks down and email the AD and President. That way when John is done you can feel like you’ve accomplished something.

I don't want to support a Program that outs a man that has done so much for OSU Wrestling/OSU because he fails to win National Titles...with a juggarnaut controlling the tourney, year after year. I don't really support now, but I would like to.

If John gets outed, I won't be open to support.

Do changes need to be made? Yes! Can we win? Yes, but not very easily.

One thing I seem to notice is that our guys almost seem to want the season to be over with at the NCAAs? It's like they are ready to be off the grind? Penn State guys show different body language. I know Nickal said in an interview that their practices are light and fun, sometimes playing games like wall ball and hackysack. I know one thing is for certain, they look tons more happy to be there than most of our guys!

Thank you.

Penn State seems to goof around until it's go time, so they're fresh and hungry to wrestle. Our team seems to grind from day 1. Very different approach. I wonder about PSU's weight cut too - are they cutting less weight (tied directly to mood/energy levels)? Do PSU guys get more say about what weight they go at? Just pondering.

Doesn't depth allow this flexibility? i.e. "Son, go out and have some fun bc if you don't we got another kid ready to have fun."

Not to start an argument, but John Smith makes the call when he is done.

If a transition isn't done peacefully and on John Smith's accord, it will kill OSU Wrestling. What coach would want to relocate to Stillwater after we sour a relationship with the greatest Wrestler that has ever laced them up?

The scenario you played out would be great, IF it were John's idea.
John being a Great wrestler should have nothing to do with his Coach performance evaluation every year. He is not bigger than the Brand period. I love John but No employee of OSU should ever be untouchable.

As someone else noted, this is a delicate situation. Smith's blessing is essential bc --it seems to me -- the best bet for a successor would come from his coaching tree (btw Pendleton looks pretty good right now though Stillwater vs the Pacific Northwest would be a hard sell for me (whose opinion that Stillwater's livability compares poorly with ... pretty much anywhere except Little Rock has any bearing on anything)).

Not to get too off topic but the Pacific Northwest has pros and cons like anywhere else. I lived there for 4 years. Great place, interesting scenery, loved my time there, but not the paradise it’s sometimes idealized as. For example the constant rain/grey/damp/mold/darkness for the majority of the year. People are so starved for sunshine they run outside when the sun peaks through the clouds. And your shoes are always wet. One year we didn’t have a summer - not a single evening warm enough to wear shorts and a T shirt.

Corvallis (Oregon State) is a charming town - kinda like Stillwater with a river walk. Stillwater/OSU/OKC/Tulsa have gotten way cooler in the last 10 years.

He would also say he's not bigger than the brand, so you mistook my post in many ways.

1. Who has more national titles as a coach, that we can hire? Meaning, he's proven as a coach and has hung banners.
2. How does the coaching tree under him compare to the next best?
3. Would that tree become disgruntled with a negative situation and would a man from that tree unseat him?
4. Who's coached more AAs and NCs than John Smith?

John Smith just needs a touch of innovation with our situation. Wholesale changes are almost always met with decline (which I know you know based off your career experience as you dealt with a company that constantly made\make knee jerk decisions.)

To each his own. I like rain, mountains, perpetaul grey, temps no higher than 80, and hippies.

You are exactly 100% on the shit company deal. They have a horrible Vision and are completely clueless how to be the best so that’s why I kicked them to the curb and I will be putting my 40th Truck on the road in Mid April and just completed my 1st housing development ( 31 homes ) from start to finish sold last home on Wednesday . Standing around trying the same damn thing over and over that brings you no titles in 16 years doesn’t work . The people who make the big money for OSU get paid to figure it out so more power to them.

Gfeller gets his teeth kicked in by Gomez 7-4....The score doesn't indicate that...Gfeller had no offense and Gomez did whatever he want

FYI: Should Plott lose tonight....They'll be no cowboys wrestling Saturday Morning!! Who would've thought that would've happen
