Hopefully we will get to see most if not all these kids in freestyle over the summer and make huge overreactions based on that outcome! Can’t wait!
When we have lots of good wrestlers in an event it is much more enjoyable to watch. When our wrestlers do well especially against National competition it does set up overreaction or if we become good enough our reaction becomes reality. You can always hope.Hopefully we will get to see most if not all these kids in freestyle over the summer and make huge overreactions based on that outcome! Can’t wait!
I remember seeing him wrestle 184 at the Fort Hayes Open against decent Division 2, Naia or Jucos and it was horrifying to see him wrestle so poorly. There was hope of the Taylor effect on him. That was dashed that day. Someone said he had to cut a lot of weight just before the tournament. Still, that would be a lack of discipline. His senior year of high school he was better than Penn. St National runner-up Barr. If I was him after Hayes I would have had to take a self-inventory, and decide I need to do wrestling different ( work way harder). I hope he did.BT did not look much different at the beginning of this season than he did a year ago. Maybe there is a different facet to his game that we have not been privileged to see yet. He seems to base all his offense on a good defense or a lucky scramble. Either way, not super fun to watch.
I think you are right, Robideau should red shirt.I agree with you on Welsh, limited offense against good opponents. Which we already have in BT lol. But Welsh defense is elite which is way better than BT.
We are hoping BT learned a thing or two being with DT whole of last year. Is Feldman really an upgrade over Doucet? I don't know.
But I am not ready to say Swiderski is a bust just yet. He has a lot of offense and untapped potential. I think one of the two years remaining, he will definitely be AA again if not more than that.
Don't think Robideau beats whoever we have competing at 157. Teague or Jamieson. So Robideau will RS.
If that’s the case, I don’t see it as this big recruiting battle win for Carl.
Wants to be home so bad that he will sit on the bench or what?
Cael just didn’t want him at ok state
I’m hoping his attendance in the Fort Hayes tournament was a last minute decision and thus so was the weight cut. And doing it all without the coaches or anyone else besides teammates would make it harder as well.I remember seeing him wrestle 184 at the Fort Hayes Open against decent Division 2, Naia or Jucos and it was horrifying to see him wrestle so poorly. That’s exactly what he is when he’s not sucked down.I’m hoping his attendance in the Fort Hayes tournament was a last minute decision and thus so was the weight cut. And doing it all without the coaches or anyone else besides teammates would make it harder as well.
I’m likely overly optimistic, but I am hopeful we see a rejuvenated and refocused BT come next season. The fact that he’s stuck around and hasn’t opted to leave or been asked to leave is a good sign, and DT taking him as a training partner to the world championship has to be a sign that DT sees something in him. If he can have stellar defense, be a real SOB on top, and go get takedowns when he needs to I think (hope?) he can still be very good.
I just think of him putting Picklo in a spladle in the first Bedlam dual last year. I don’t care if Picklo never quite hit AA status or whatever folks projected for him, doing that to a D1 wrestler is absolutely bonkers. That’s exactly what he is when he’s not sucked down.
Picklo is another one that either was in the wrong system or just never developed into his potentialI just think of him putting Picklo in a spladle in the first Bedlam dual last year. Hawks getting a little sleezy? Sounds like they might have possibly cooked up an agreed upon deal pre portal with some of those other folks.

Wrestlers talking to wrestlers is a little different.
Easy there it’s not just us
The donor says I’ll offer you X if you transferWrestlers talking to wrestlers is a little different.
Is that what the wrestlers said? Speculation. The donor says I’ll offer you X if you transfer
The athlete says our donors will offer you X if you transfer
There’s really no difference, it’s still “legal”tampering.

OSU and Iowa food fight
when and where?PSU did this all few years ago already, now laughing at these amateurs who dont know how to get it done without noise.
Exactlywhen and where?
For what’s it’s worth:If we're to believe Mineo, Iowa far exceeded the $300k offer he got elsewhere. Hard to blame a kid for not turning down that kind of money. I hope he can stay on the straight and narrow and he finishes one place below our guy.
You are Iowa fan though. You might be down playing Iowa guys numbers and hyping up OSU guys numbers cause it helps your team. I refuse to believe your numbers. For what’s it’s worth:
Bailey’s dad promoted him to get into the portal. He talked Jordan into going with him. The Bailey family can use the money. Iowa did NOT offer them EACH $300k. From a reliable source, it was $75k each per year for a total of $300. This is a much different song and dance.
All these schools are in the same ballpark whether folks want to believe it or not. I originally heard Swiderski was offered $300k — no idea if it was per year or total. I just heard from a very good source that Facundo was offered $250k per year.
Again, I don’t have a problem with it when kids are leaving because they want to start or because their family needs the money.
My point is that this is the new game and you either play it or you get left behind. I don’t like ir one bit.I don't believe your numbers for OSU kids since you will increase it up just because you are Iowa fan.
How much did Iowa pay Bo?For what’s it’s worth:

I didn’t tell you to believe the numbers. I am telling the word on the street. I do know the numbers for Bailey and Williams and admit, I do not know the numbers for Swiderski and Facundo — and these numbers are coming from ISU insiders. You are Iowa fan though. You might be down playing Iowa guys numbers and hyping up OSU guys numbers cause it helps your team. I refuse to believe your numbers.
But I have no issues kids are leaving for better future. It's their life. It just gives me, an OSU fan, a talking point to nib Iowa fans.
To be honest, I am not really afraid of Iowa paying these kids. Their coaching staff has given us no indication that payment recruiting make them a better wrestling program in recent years.
That's not in the same universe as reality my friend. All these schools are in the same ballpark whether folks want to believe it or not. Real numbers please...That's not in the same universe as reality my friend.
I'm not giving real numbers but those aren't reality. I am quickly coming to the belief that NIL numbers are 3-10x lower than what the internet quotes. Across the board. 10x for lower echelon guys and 3x for upper echelon guys. Think about it.Real numbers please...
It will never be dead. It will only grow more powerful.Just when I thought the numbers convo was dead lol here we go again.
I wonder if Brooks is really talking about his poverty wrestling career?
Easy there it’s not just us
If we gave Swiderski $300,000 a year I would say that we are crazy and if we continue to be this dumb and we will have no future. If we gave him 300,000 for 2 years, I still question our sanity. I read where Georgia might need to come up with 2 million to sign the number 1 high school quarterback in the Country but that is big time football that makes a fortune. That we would pay Facundo $250,000 a year to get a 2nd or 3rd team place at Nationals doesn't make sense. He has never even been an All-American wrestler and Swiderski is coming off a major injury and placed 7th once at Nationals. Does that even include their scholarship. I hope wrestling has not become this destructive. NIL originally was about doing some advertising or something for money from a company. I would see where a company would pay Daton, Plott or Hendrickson but pay for some hired gun who has not been very successful? For what’s it’s worth:

That’s not the real Sammy Brooks, just a fan account, also a 2x AA is a poverty wrestling career?I wonder if Brooks is really talking about his poverty wrestling career?
It hasn't and I don't know why perfectly logical people make illogical claims. I'm still trying to figure out why people are either lying about NIL numbers or trying to make themselves relevant by quoting numbers that they have no knowledge about. I'm on the sidelines for the most part on these transfers but the numbers I'm getting are a far cry from those being quoted on the internet. Just ask yourself why? Does anyone think Swiderski got $300k? Case closed...I hope wrestling has not become this destructive.
Swiderski getting $300k?! He is going into his Senior year?! Transfers aren’t over. This is one hell of a way to follow up on an incredible finish to the year..For what’s it’s worth:

We pick on Iowa, because they seem to be the worst offenders, but I’m sure there is always some back door dealing, rules skirting in every program. A great Yogi on a mountain somewhere said, “if you ain’t cheatin, you ain’t tryin”. Though, to all those kids out there, I would never encourage cheating. Stay in school and eat your veggies.
