That the holy spirit has worked in you to understand that you are a sinner and that you 'change your mind' regarding needing Christ in order to be admitted into Heaven. It does not mean 'to turn away from sin'.

I can easily seeing it meaning that you have to 'change your mind' about the old Mosaic laws being that which gets you into heaven and instead trust in Christ's sacrifice on the cross in order to receive salvation.
Actually it's according to what the word actually means in both the original language and as it's used in the textual context.
Nowhere does the Bible teach that a person could be redeemed by keeping Mosaic law. Galatians 3 is very enlightening on the subject. Its always been faith.

In that time more Catholics were made than were lost to the Revolt (falsely called a reformation). Millions converted.
Centuries later, the America's are still the most Catholic place on Earth.
