I'm not so sure about 50/50. He seems to be confident on his move here. He's acting as if it's 90/10. Honestly I don't think Trump would make this announcement without knowing it would go through.
The senate just appointed a majority leader in the shadiest way possible. They may be stuck with confirmation at some point, and agreed to a recess at the right time to get all if these picks in.
I have to admit its a bold move, but so far nothing about this time around is going to be safe. He is obviously go big or go home. He doesn't have a re-election to worry about.
Gaetz is already in via recess appointments. All Trump's cabinet picks will bypass Senate confirmation. Obama and Clinton did the same thin, now that a pub is doing it, the libs are shittin themselves.
Trump is naming Gaetz so the criminals will leave the country and save them the trouble. Look for a stream of libs leaving to countries that the US doesn't have an extradition treaty with.

If I had my way each and every piece of legislation would require a minimum of 2/3rds voting in favor of legislation or appointment to pass in both houses. I would think that would insure legislation is in the best interest of the majority.

Not 2/3rds but I truly believe that we should re-enshrine the 60 vote threshold and permanently eliminate the "CR" process. Those were the real checks and balances that the founding fathers created, but libs started destroying them, and Republicans continued destroying them and that, more than anything else, has led to the wild pendulum swings of government over the past 20 years.
I could get behind the 60 vote threshold and the elimination of the CR process. Not sure how we get that enshrined into Congress with as divided as this country is.
