If we do get Merrill and he grows into a heavyweight he’d probably have to sit behind Carroll for a couple years. Hopefully he can stay at 197 for a bit.Willie's updated 2024 Big Board. 12 OK guys in the top 150.
Verbals...
Beric Jordan #17
Kolter Burton #64
Some other top 100s mentioned before...
Cody Merrill #3 (maybe develops into a heavy?)
Omar Ayoub #25 (recent visit)
Jace Roller #39
Layton Schneider #49
Kael Voinovich #51
JJ McComas #57
Clayton Giddens #95
I was going to same the same thing. Hope we get him and he's 197 all four years. Thompson, Plott, Heeg, Merrill and Carroll would be a nice back end to the lineupIf we do get Merrill and he grows into a heavyweight he’d probably have to sit behind Carroll for a couple years. Who are 1-3?Took a look at Flo’s 2025 big board just for curiosity. Not a lot of Oklahoma kids rn
LaDarion Lockett #4
Kody Routledge #62
Beau Hickman #82
Theres also a kid from Texas Dorian Olivarez who is ranked #45.
I’ve also seen people say that Kody Routledge is a beast so hopefully he’ll move up.
Who are 1-3?

TBF the last time they updated the 2025 BB was it April of this year so it’s a little outdated. I bet he’ll finish a lot higher.Surprised to see Routledge that low
•Merrill is essential (Cormier connection)
•Encouraging that Ayoub visited
•Roller is a lock if they want him - good to see him rated that high
•Voinovich taking all his looks - seems like his weight is getting crowded
•Wonder if there will ultimately be room for McComas & Giddens for the same reason as Voinovich
He did not place at Super 32's. He did win cadets at Fargo. But seems like as a sophomore he should be rated better.Surprised to see Routledge that low
I will take the possible bait. Somewhere he must have some real excellent wrestling DNA in him but right now he is just a good high school wrestler who got beat in the Oklahoma state finals by Hollingsworth 6 to 1 at 120. At this point he would be a workout partner and there is not any hype around him. Sam did win state at 106 as a sophomore. Likely a quality young man. Also being the son of John Smith when you are wrestling is likely not an easy task. What’s the expectation with Sam Smith? Will he contribute or is a workout partner?
I really haven’t heard any hype around him.
Ayoub is nice and wrestles about 20 minutes from my house, his brother did sign last year and is a true freshman at Nebraska after originally committing to WisconsinGetting Merrill and Omar Ayoub with the addition of Beric Jordan would be a stellar recruiting class. I like Ayoub, it looks like he could be at or around 141 and be a really nice replacement for Carter. I personally don't think Carroll will be a 197 lb'er. Especailly if hes tipping the scale at around 245-250
Ironman field will be ridiculous this year . I know every year it's tough but this year will be a step upSome more Stillwater interviews...
Sam Smith is going 120 for Ironman, Kael Voinovich is going 144, and Landyn Sommer is unsure right now.
Didn't see the match, but I read PJ Duke beat Lockett 4-3. Kudos to both guys for putting it on the line.Ironman field will be ridiculous this year . I know every year it's tough but this year will be a step up
Yep. Probably going to be #2 behind Iowa... But their top signee is a high level football recruit (4* linebacker) so chances are he will be told he can't wrestle once he goes through football season. It's happened... But would he a surprise.
Also...JJ McComas took an official at UNC this weekend.
Flo updated their 2023 Big Board with Carroll rated 2, Thompson rated 4, Hughes rated 24 and Heeg rated 34. Shapiro moved to first probably because I heard he entered some college tournaments and beat some college guys. I would love to see some of our recruits have great senior years and move up in the rankings.Did anyone see Seth's Stillwater interviews on Rokfin? Some more clues on weights...
- Hughes is going 132 this year for Ironman. Said he would be a 133 in college right now or maybe 141 if he gets bigger.
- Heeg is going 190 this year. Said he might start at 184 in college and end up at 197.
- Lockett is going 150 this year for Ironman and only weighs around 160. Sounds like he probably won't outgrow 165 for college, that would be good news.
- McComas is going 126 this year for Ironman, but Ethan Kyle made it sound like he has a decent pull to make the weight. McComas also sorta indicated his preference for OSU college wise. I think we need to land him as a verbal or we will regret it. I see him jumping levels soon.
Does anyone know if Christian Carroll will be competing at the Walsh Ironman this week? He was supposed to wrestle, but I don't see his HS listed on Trackwrestling.Ironman field will be ridiculous this year . I know every year it's tough but this year will be a step up
Carroll is taking online classes and training. Won't be at Ironman or any other HS events is my understanding.Does anyone know if Christian Carroll will be competing at the Walsh Ironman this week? He was supposed to wrestle, but I don't see his HS listed on Trackwrestling.
Lockport, Stillwater & Bixby are listed so we should see Thompson, Jordan, Smith, Hughes, Heeg, Caviness & Robb.
This will also be a great opportunity for the other guys from Stillwater, Bixby, Edmond North & Broken Arrow.
FYI, I looked up IndianaMat and Carroll is wrestling this year. He has at least 1 first period pin at heavyweight so far this season. He was slated to be the only wrestler from his HS at Ironman, but decided not to go I guess.Carroll is taking online classes and training. Wrassler, I don't get Rofkin so could you let me know who specifically he beat that was rated. Thanks. Lots of wrestlers I have interest in are going to be at the Ironman, I hope they all show up especially Cael Hughes.Looking at some results on Rokfin...Brayden Thompson won a big tourney in Iowa last week @ 195. He beat the #59 PFP & the #19 PFP along the way.
He won state at 170 in February. Since then he's wrestled 79 KG, 182, 86 KG & 195. He'll probably be at 190 for Ironman, which would put him in the same bracket as AJ Heeg.
Harley, he beat Cole Mirasola 5-3 and McCrae Hagarty 5-1. Willie has Mirasola #19 on the 2024 Big Board and Hagarty #59 on the 2023 Big Board.Wrassler, I don't get Rofkin so could you let me know who specifically he beat that was rated. Thanks. Link to the DG/DB 195 bracket. Weird format.Wrassler, I don't get Rofkin so could you let me know who specifically he beat that was rated. Thanks. Lots of wrestlers I have interest in are going to be at the Ironman, I hope they all show up especially Cael Hughes.
