Gaetz is out

Good.

He was by far the worst pick of Trumps 2024 team IMO.
I disagree.

I hate the guy but he was about to eviscerate the deep state.

And his excuse is LAME. It's going to "make things harder" for Trump/Vance? Having to pick another AG makes things harder, and it undermines Trump's credibility in all future picks.

I hate the guy even more after this. Asshat.

So many thoughts on this. He was the right guy to clean house and prosecute. I loved the idea of that. But, would he have been perceived as handing out law fare at some point? The investigative findings would have under minded his time as AG, which might push some back to the Dems in 2028.

I hate it that the Dems supported all of Biden's shitty picks and are so united. When will Reps learn? They owe Trump. Why with all this momentum are Reps not falling in line?

Let's hope they can find someone as passionate and ruthless about cleaning up the DOJ that has an almost lily white past that will make it very hard for Dems to make law fare claims.

Well, maybe what is going on here is that the DOJ did not have enough to prosecute him for having relations with a 17 year old because she looked 18 and lied. That happens.

But regardless, that is creepy AF behavior if true for a man this age and a House Rep. And I could be wrong, but if he did not do this you simply do not withdraw. That is my opinion. If he thought the investigation was not going to come out and prove he is creepy AF, and he lied to Trump? He did Trump a disservice on the front end and he needed to go.

Perhaps we will never know the truth. But Gaetz did not want the investigation coming out, that we can be certain of.

We need the list of all Reps and Dems that was part of that $17M in hush payments for sexual improprieties. And how in the hell is that legal? For us as taxpayers to pay that?

Let's hope they can find someone as passionate and ruthless about cleaning up the DOJ that has an almost lily white past that will make it very hard for Dems to make law fare claims.

One thing this has done, it has identified the 4 senators most likely to not support him at times.

I have to assume that there was something in that report that was more damning than just he-said, she-said testimony.

Read my post above. What he did, did not raise to the level of rape (it was consensual) or sex with a minor because she looked 18 and older and she lied about her age (she was 17). It is however creepy AF for a man of that age as a House Rep. He did not want this coming out.

But all that was already out. Its creepy AF whether they release the report or not. I can't help but wonder if there's either more to that story, or something else entirely, within that report that he's avoiding by dropping out.

I am not sure many in America are fully aware of the allegations, and many may see it as lawfare and dismiss it outright.

A bipartisan release of the investigation would carry much more substantive weight both in fact and in opinion. And far more publicity.

Looking at this logically, do you think Trump was surprised that this happened?

The excuse is BS as you said. I think this was Trump's plan. Maybe he was simply doin it to give Gaetz a way to exit the House and not have to deal with his investigation. Or maybe Trump was doing this to expose the RINOs.

McConnell, Collins, Murkowski and Markwayne Mullin all said they would not vote to confirm Gaetz under any circumstance. So that kills the nomination riht there unless Trump wanted to go with recess appointments.

I think we need to see who the next nominee is to get a sense of what's going on here. Plus we need to see where Gaetz ends up.

If the next nominee is clearly a Plan B pick and Gaetz slinks back to the House, that suggests Trump got caught flat-footed here. How many times does that happen to Trump?

On the other hand, if Gaetz slides into Rubio's senate spot and Trump nominates a home run replacement, that suggets this was all a plan.

I checked, Kash has a law degree, so he could be nominated as AG. I did think it was curious that the media seemed to be freakin out about Gaetz as AG and Kash as possible FBI director in parallel.

Kash as AG and Devin as FBI Director?

I don't like the idea of Gaetz to the Rubio Senate seat. All the salaciousness will make that election in 2 years a question (even in bright red Florida). Its this kind of lunacy that gets Dems like Manchin, Brown, and Tester serving Senate terms in states that are otherwise neon Red.

These same Florida voters have already elected him to the House, I'm not sure why they would suddenly decide to not vote for him to the Senate.

It's more important for Trump to have solid supporters in the Senate than it is the House. If DeSantis is smart, he will support this idea fully.

The kind of lunacy that gets pubs in trouble is letting the left bully them into doing their bidding. Every Trump nominee will have some sort of disqualifying scandal according to the left. The media will pounce, some on the right will panic and say we need to get a more 'electable' candidate. That's how we keep ending up with RINOs, cause the left scares us into not supporting MAGA candidates till we settle on a RINO cause the left won't attack them.

There's a reason why.

If you listened to the full 3 hours of Rogan's interview of Trump, Trump said he has been burned before by picking someone from the private sector that has all this bad baggage in their past and he had no idea no matter their effort to vette. He said people already in politics have already been vetted like hell and you know what is out there. Trump knows what Gaetz is. People from the private sector you don't know everything and he said it can be scary, really risky. This was something Trump was going to pay attention to.

I think it is being pretty generous to say Trump played some 3D or 4D chess with Gaetz, that this was a way to get Bondi appointed, or to move Gaetz all over the chessboard. Bondi needs zero help to get voted thru, if she had been named first, no one would have a problem.

If he is playing chess? I said very early on this was a way to get Gaetz out of the House of Reps and gone because Gaetz has been mucking things up in the house really bad, to the point they could do not do business. But it came with some risk, and obviously Trump will never run for re-election so he may not care. If Trump seriously wanted him as AG knowing this about Gaetz? Sorry, but that is a problem. If he was planned cannon fodder, great. I am hardcore MAGA but I am not afraid to say when Trump may have made an error if he seriously wanted him as AG, everyone makes mistakes.

Supporting MAGA in my opinion does not mean blindly supporting him to the point MAGA represents appointing a married man that has at least 1 and possibly 2 or more sexual encounters with underage women. That is statutory rape. This is what MAGA campaigned to stop at the border, underage women coming over the border to have sex with sexual creeps and predators. If that is some purity test for MAGA, count me out on that one and I am not saying anyone is saying that. I don't want MAGA politicians with that baggage. I am for publishing the list of the $17M in hush payments made by taxpayers for alleged sexual misgivings. List them all, Dims and Reps. And how is that legal for us to pay for that?

There is PLENTY of good people that can support a MAGA policy position without all this baggage. Trump rightfully after all he has been thru, probably wanted a face in the AG that might cause some to have a heart attack in the DOJ, and perhaps that over rode his common sense.

Bondi appears fully committed to the MAGA agenda. She will be far less of a public lightning rod, and that does not mean she will not be as effective or not bring forward as many charges for wrongdoing. She might be more public than we think. Just get the job done effectively and fairly.

MAGA is winning, and the fine line here is to not go so bat shit crazy with throwing everyone in D.C. in prison as much we may think that is what is needed, or Trump will not be able to hand over MAGA to Vance or some other MAGA candidate, because if the Dims get back in they will destroy what MAGA did and Trump's policy legacy goes out the door with it. MAGA voters voted on the following:

1. Economy and inflation
2. Border Immigration
3. DEI / Women's rights
4. Unending lawfare
5. Following the constitution and equal application of the law
6. Downsizing the government and removing regulations
7. Make America healthy
8. Kids and trans issues and teachings

The RINOS in the party need to go, but you don't replace them with someone like Gaetz that destroys your brand morally and as we know, MAGA was voted in partially because what Dims was doing was not morally acceptable in several of their policy positions.

Gaetz is dirty AF, they have the goods on him. MAGA does not need him, and in the long term he was going to be a huge distraction and problem for the President, he said it himself. Believe him.

The house is a narrow swath of voters vs. the senate seat which is the entire state. Gaetz represents the Florida Panhandle which is almost all rural and about 20 points redder than Florida as a whole. Winning as the Republican there vs. winning across the entire state are two different things. Maybe Gaetz could win in Florida. Its certainly red. But why risk it? For the past dozen years, the most annoying part of the Senate was that Dems had control thanks to 3 Dems who won their seats in the solidly RED states of Montana, Ohio, and West Virginia. And now you want to give Dems a shot at a Florida seat by nominating a guy who spends his free time chasing teenage tail? No offense, but that's moronic. Run ANY normal candidate, and you're guaranteed the Florida seat for the next 20 years. Run Gaetz, and you just might give up the Senate majority come 2026.

Edit: You can be MAGA and pro-Trump without having the baggage that Gaetz has. And his scandal isn't just something the Dems concocted and would apply to ANY pro-Trump nominee.

I'm thinking it might be possible this appointing Gaetz was a win for everyone, including Gaetz. Gaetz avoids the release of the investigation, the House get's rid of a problem child in Gaetz and Trump's new appointment flies through without problem.

But who was Gaetz a problem child for in the House? The RINOs.

Look, do I think Matt is a model Christian? I do not.

Do I think he's a model defender of MAGA principles? I do.

Right now, we need people with balls who will execute on Trump's America First strategy, and not apologize for doing so.

Making character concessions to the left is how we end up with people like Jeb Bush and Mitt Romney running the right instead of Donald Trump and Matt Gaetz.

Let's get the people in place who will do the dirty work. Even if it means we let some 'dirty' people do that dirty work.

Once we have cleaned the place up, then we can look for the next Ronald Reagan to maintain it.

Actually you can't. There are very few people who have shown they will consistently stick by Trumps America First agenda like Matt Gaetz will. Especially with the qualifications that AG has.

Trump has appointed a stud replacement for Gaetz, so I am fine with it. I'm just tired of seeing the right cave on the 'character' issue every time, and especially to the left. The most evil and immoral group since the nazis.

If the choice is between a 'baggage' pick who will execute America First or a clean cut pick who will not, I'll take Matt Gaetz every day and twice on Saturday.

While I agree with this in principle I'm also of the opinion we have to be intelligent in picking our battles. Gaetz can still be of service in some manner but forcing him into the AG position isn't a smart battle to pick. Just my opinion.

I struggle to think that we can denigrate the morality of the left by nominating candidates with an equivalently immoral compass who happen to support the agenda on the right.

You put me on ignore because I challenged you on a statement and you would not provide the backup to prove your statement. What a snowflake. You are the type of right wing extremist we don’t’ need. MAGA people can run off RINOS and do what is needed without turning a blind eye to statutory rapists. Listen to yourself. If you really believe this you have lost it.

That's the point. We shouldn't give a shit about the morals or opinions of the left. We should focus on saving America.

Remember who God used to save the Israelites in Babylon? It wasn't a faithful follower, it was Cyrus. A murderer who didn't even follow God.

Is the most important thing here that we save America now, or we wait till we find 'wholesome' people to do it that you can be proud of?

I suspect the Israelis in Babylon just wanted their slavery to end, they didn't care about the manners of the person that freed them.
