Gaetz is out

Good.

He was by far the worst pick of Trumps 2024 team IMO.
I disagree.

I hate the guy but he was about to eviscerate the deep state.

And his excuse is LAME. It's going to "make things harder" for Trump/Vance? Having to pick another AG makes things harder, and it undermines Trump's credibility in all future picks.

I hate the guy even more after this. Asshat.

So many thoughts on this. He was the right guy to clean house and prosecute. I loved the idea of that. But, would he have been perceived as handing out law fare at some point? The investigative findings would have under minded his time as AG, which might push some back to the Dems in 2028.

I hate it that the Dems supported all of Biden's shitty picks and are so united. When will Reps learn? They owe Trump. Why with all this momentum are Reps not falling in line?

Let's hope they can find someone as passionate and ruthless about cleaning up the DOJ that has an almost lily white past that will make it very hard for Dems to make law fare claims.

Well, maybe what is going on here is that the DOJ did not have enough to prosecute him for having relations with a 17 year old because she looked 18 and lied. That happens.

But regardless, that is creepy AF behavior if true for a man this age and a House Rep. And I could be wrong, but if he did not do this you simply do not withdraw. That is my opinion. If he thought the investigation was not going to come out and prove he is creepy AF, and he lied to Trump? He did Trump a disservice on the front end and he needed to go.

Perhaps we will never know the truth. But Gaetz did not want the investigation coming out, that we can be certain of.

We need the list of all Reps and Dems that was part of that $17M in hush payments for sexual improprieties. And how in the hell is that legal? For us as taxpayers to pay that?

One thing this has done, it has identified the 4 senators most likely to not support him at times.

I have to assume that there was something in that report that was more damning than just he-said, she-said testimony.

Read my post above. What he did, did not raise to the level of rape (it was consensual) or sex with a minor because she looked 18 and older and she lied about her age (she was 17). It is however creepy AF for a man of that age as a House Rep. He did not want this coming out.

But all that was already out. Its creepy AF whether they release the report or not. I can't help but wonder if there's either more to that story, or something else entirely, within that report that he's avoiding by dropping out.

I am not sure many in America are fully aware of the allegations, and many may see it as lawfare and dismiss it outright.

A bipartisan release of the investigation would carry much more substantive weight both in fact and in opinion. And far more publicity.

Looking at this logically, do you think Trump was surprised that this happened?

The excuse is BS as you said. I think this was Trump's plan. Maybe he was simply doin it to give Gaetz a way to exit the House and not have to deal with his investigation. Or maybe Trump was doing this to expose the RINOs.

McConnell, Collins, Murkowski and Markwayne Mullin all said they would not vote to confirm Gaetz under any circumstance. So that kills the nomination riht there unless Trump wanted to go with recess appointments.

I think we need to see who the next nominee is to get a sense of what's going on here. Plus we need to see where Gaetz ends up.

If the next nominee is clearly a Plan B pick and Gaetz slinks back to the House, that suggests Trump got caught flat-footed here. How many times does that happen to Trump?

On the other hand, if Gaetz slides into Rubio's senate spot and Trump nominates a home run replacement, that suggets this was all a plan.

I checked, Kash has a law degree, so he could be nominated as AG. I did think it was curious that the media seemed to be freakin out about Gaetz as AG and Kash as possible FBI director in parallel.

Kash as AG and Devin as FBI Director?
