Okay, I really didn’t think you remotely thought DeSantis projected the word “monkey” toward the Tallahassee mayor (even though the quote was clearly aimed at ideology). I assumed you were just making a joke. It is beyond my scope of thought to immediately go after and even consider normal talk to be racist. That is a HUGE problem. Not with me, but with you and others that try to tie everything to racial terms.
How is that "normal talk". Nobody says that. No one uses "monkey this up" as a regular figure of speech. Find me another example of someone using those words in that combination if you can.
Earlier today, I saw a blurb on Twitter about what he said. I didn't give it much thought other than to think poor choice of words by him. Then, I saw @SMemmett post about it, and I thought it was funny that he referenced the comment, so I "liked" his post. Next thing I know, @CBradSmith is calling me out and making personal attacks against me. Up until that point, I hadn't given DeSantis' comments much thought at all, but then I started paying more attention. I wasn't assuming him to be a racist, but I don't think it can be assumed that he isn't and that he didn't choose those words on purpose.
It is a fact that there are racists in this country. It is a fact that there are racists who are politicians. It is a fact that there are individuals who think they are really clever and funny when they are not. It is possible that he thought he was making a subtle clever joke.
I'm not saying that it is so. I do think it is over the top to accuse the guy of being racist, or of using a racial epithet based on those words. But, I don't think it is over the top to raise an eyebrow and say "that was a poor choice of words".
@CBradSmith constantly goes off on the liberals and their over the top outrage over various things. How is his outrage, and your outrage over me saying what I have said any different?
