New client just showed up to drop off his cat due to eye discharge. My employee went outside to collect the cat and get a medical history from the client. Twenty-five minutes later (and, no, I am not exaggerating), my Practice Manager went outside to rescue my other employee from a lecture on the greatness of Trump and the evils of the liberal Democrats. Per my employee, he just started talking about those topics for no apparent reason. She was not even able to get the pertinent information about his cat out of him. She was too nice to tell him that she had work to do and was not interested in a political discussion.
I have a big problem with people who think it is OK to force their views (be they political, religious, or anything else) on a random stranger who has given them no indication that they are interested in said discourse.
Don't be that guy (or girl). Respect others' right to keep their beliefs to themselves until they give you some indication that they are interested in discussing a topic that you are passionate about.
