If the wall Trump and the Republicans want to build to keep Mexicans out will ultimately be used to keep Americans in?

Not once have I thought that. I could get on a plane and fly over it, a boat and go around it, or drive a car north through Canada.

Do you suppose Mexicans might have the same realization?

If a Mexican can get a plane ticket, they have to come through our immigration services when they arrive. I’m good with that.

Been told by everyone on the left the wall won’t work. So your question is flawed.

Are you aware that 2/3rd of all illegal immigrants came into the country legally, but overstayed their visas? How is the wall suppose to keep them out? So are you saying you’re good with them staying since they got a plane ticket and got here through our immigration services?

Why are you opposed to it?

I’m not sure why arguments by the left make the question flawed. Are you thinking the question is coming from someone on the left? I’m about as far from the left as a person can get. (From the right too.)

Why are you opposed to it?
1). It won’t work (see the Jacoby link from an earlier post.)
2). It will cost the American taxpayers billions of tax dollars.
3). It is humiliating that the Land Of The Free would put up such a barrier.
4). It is an incredibly ugly monstrosity.
5). People should be free to move about as they see fit.
6). As our government becomes increasingly tyrannical (see all the “deep state” infringements that are daily plastered in the news) the wall becomes a barricade from escape if escape becomes necessary.

Here, I’ll repost the Jacoby article for you to read.

1. It does work, and has all over the world, including on our southern border.

2. True, but we spend far more than this on illegals when they get here.

3. Eh

4. Itnisnt built yet, so this is a false statement.

5. Uhhh, no.

6. Not seeing it. You are reaching here.

Doesn’t matter what position your question is coming from. The wall won’t work.

Setting aside your shocking assertion on Point 5, Let's you and I make a deal. But first some simple math. Keep in mind my math skills are seriously lacking, so if you find an error please do not hesitate to correct me. According to the Jacoby article there are 1954 miles of border in the discussion. One mile is 5280 feet. So 1954 miles would equal 10,317,120 feet. Each panel is 30' long and costs $450,000. I don't know if that's an installed price or a delivered price, but for the sake of argument let's say its the installed price. 10,317,120 divided by 30 equals 343,904 panels. So it will take 343,904 panels to blockade the border. At $450,00 each, it will cost $154,756,800,000.00 to install the panels across the 1954 miles. We'll ignore the expense the government will incur in litigating all the eminent domain suits the construction of the wall will incur. We'll pretend that this is the only project in the history of our government that does not incur cost overruns. We'll assume this is the first project of any size that does not extend beyond the estimated time frame, and it is completed on time, say one year. It is the finest example of government action ever taken. We're granting all of that. Now, according to Jacoby 60-65% of the American people are opposed to the construction. Let's say the survey is flawed, and in reality it's 50/50. 50% of the people are like me and don't want a wall. Let's say there are 340,000,000 Americans. That means 170 million are for the wall, and 170 million are opposed. Here's the deal: those of you in favor of the wall pay for it and leave those of us against it out of it. $154,756,800,000 divided by 170,000,000 would come to $922.10 that each one of the proponents would need to pony up for the construction of the wall. Any proponent who refuses to pay or can't pay, the rest of the proponents will pick up the slack. You pay for it and I'll keep my opinion to myself. Also, you and your cohorts agree to pay all expenses required for its upkeep, whatever that expense turns out to be. Deal?

Couple of issues here:

1) I don't think we'll ever build a wall for every mile. Part of it is rhetoric. There are significant sections that have sufficient natural barriers to entry.

2) As for the 50/50, sure. But then since I didn't want ObamaCare, can I opt out of funding its subsidies? I didn't vote for it. How about my share of the billions given to the UN? Can I opt out of it as well? I'd love to have that level of transparency and control of how the government spends my tax dollars, but I would demand that its done on more than just the one proposal that you disagree with.

Did you really need to ask? I think you should be able to opt out of all of it!

This is a much more simple question than a wall. The real issue is who dictates US policy, American citizens or foreign nationals who have illegally entered our country?
Shamwow!
