If the 14th amendment were a legitimate strategy for addressing the debt ceiling, this would have been pushed months ago. The fact it hasn't been means they know that its not legitimate, but if they enact it without enough window for the SC to review then when the SC comes back with the most likely interpretation (that it is unconstitutional) then it would be the SC's fault that the government defaulted rather than Biden's. That media narrative for the next month would be: "The radical Republican Supreme Court is the cause for the default."
