MD over Paniro Johnson of Iowa State, that’s a big-time win. Have been very impressed with Fish this tournament!
Very tough win for Tagen. This win was needed with Spratley losing to Purdue in the semi's. Spratley did not seem to do much in this match but did get a couple of escapes but no takedowns. Ramos got the only takedown. I really liked how Carter won with a major over a good opponent.
Luke with a close win over Carrol, Hamiti dominating
Hamiti wins 14 to 1. He is undefeated and I think he has at least majored everybody. He is so fun to watch, and this is rare but he has some genius to him.
The kid from Rider put on a clinic on how to run for most of the match and try to get lucky at the end. Fortunately We Plott Hal’s out and got the win 2-0, should have been more stalling calls.
That last stall call on Plott pissed me the hell off. 6:30 of backing up is 2 stall calls but :10 sec of backing up is one? come on
I forgot that Amine won in the semi's over Nebraska 4 to 1 with a takedown in overtime. Isn't this what happened in the quarters. It's getting like Doucette last year where I could predict the score. Plott won 2 to 0, yes his opponent was defensive, but Dustin was not aggressive enough

Spratley v Ramos semifinal
Spratley with heavy hands to start. Pushing forward. Ramos fakes into a collar tie. Spratley back to heavy hands, tries a snap. Spratley shoots, can’t grab an ankle. Ramos tries a double leg, but not really close. Spratley fakes, but Ramos with a big double counter shot and Spratley heavy hips holds it off and they break. Spratley tries a duck under. Ramos gets a head lock off of it. Stalemate. End of period. 0-0
Troy goes under. Stands up but big return. Spratley stands again and almost breaks free, but Ramos somehow gets him back down, thought he was out. Troy then breaks his leg ride and gets out while on the mat still, wow. :43 sec RT to Ramos there. 1-0. Ramos shoots single leg, nothing. Ramos shoots again, Troy needs to push offense. Troy gets a headlock off a Ramos shot, but not Troy backing up too much. Ramos shoots again and they go off. End of period. 1-0 Troy.

Hardy tries a double and Jameson gets called stalling as he backs up. Hardy gets to a single leg, but Jameson with a whizzer then comes out behind and they get tangle up and its stopped for dangerous position. Jameson shoots, nothing. He elevates and tries to keep him in the center. Hamiti drops down and tries to limp arm out but Ruiz again goes off the edge. Hamiti snaps and again gets a leg. Stall on Ruiz. Elevates and cant get him again as he goes off. This time they call Ruiz for stalling as he reaches for the edge of the mat. Ruiz shoots grabs leg but Hamiti goes high crotch easily gets behind for 3. Ruiz works up and Hamiti returns him. Flattens him out end of period. 4-0.

Plott with a single but Dean kicks out. Finally warned for stalling. Heavy hands by Dean trying to slow Plott down. Plott fakes. Dean tries a headlock but Plott pushes him off. Congrats on having a great coaching staff guys. Now you see what can and will be. Can you imagine the staff with the new recruits?
Carter in a scramble towards end of 3rd period, can’t make it work, loses 4-2, first cowboy that is not wrestling for 1st or 3rd
Young had a leg 3-4 times against Ech that he could've scored. Ech is good, but not finishing quality shots is what separates Carter from the top guys at 149. He is fringe AA right now and he finished 20% more of his quality shots he would jump up a level IMO. Each had two good shots and finished one of them for the win.

The idea of Carroll as a HWT now seems utterly absurd. He idoesnt seem like a huge 197 lol.

Maybe that is why he was not retained on the new staff and why maybe the new staff did not try to retain that wrestler. Do we know if Perry is even employed through the ISU program? Maybe they were both overrated?
Big win for Tagen over Hardy. Last time they wrestled I am pretty sure Hardy majored him. Great to see these wrestlers making improvements.
Really exciting pairings for us in this last session. We will be underdogs in all 3 matches against the Buckeyes but I'd love to see us pull off at least one upset. Witcraft vs Bouzakis could be fun.

Reece loses after a great come back to take the match to overtime by giving up a takedown to Bouzakis. The score I think was 13 to 10. Tagen loses 4 to 2 to Mendez on a take down in the 3rd. Mendez won Nationals last year. Real good tournament for Tagen.
Norman is impressive, but great ride out by Hamiti for the win. Norman is a freshman, he is going to cause some problems.
Amine loses on a scramble takedown in over time. Believe it or not the score was 3 to 1. Hamiti wins 4 to 3 on riding out the 3rd period. Real tough win for Hamiti over Norman. We got our 1st Champion.
Plott loses 8 to 3 to Keckeisen who got 2 takedowns to 0 for Plott. Plott got head butted and knocked silly but never quit. Plott gave up 2 early takedowns when he seemed overwhelmed by his opponents extreme aggression. Even after that but Dustin has to get better shots if he is to win. Last 2 matches Dustin got 0 takedowns. That is hard to understand.
Surber takes 3rd with an injury default where he was ahead 8 to 2 when they stopped the match. I think 9 placed in the top 4 which has never happened in this tournament and Carter took 5th.
Hard to wrestle any better than we did. Best this program has looked in a bit.
It was sort of a bad finals until Hendrickson pinned Trumbly in the 1st period in the finals. Good finish for the Cowboys with 2 Champs Hamiti and Hendrickson. Ran away with the team title also.
