Then why are we always required to check a damn box that seems so important to "government data?" The government thinks race and/or ethnicity is some kind of important. And, in case you live in a Cole Haan shoebox, "white" is the ONLY checkbox available to identify oneself if we are, for lack of a better term, "white" in skin tone.

You are saying that blacks can gather around a table with nothing to bind them but their African heritage and discuss their problems as a whole. Such as the black caucus. Or the naacp.
