Allocations Released

The big boys in the Big 12 take it on the chin this year with only four allocated spots each at 197 and 285 (after getting 13, 14, and 11 combined the last three years).

But the big losers this year are the re-aligned conferences.

EIWA/Ivy loses 5 slots combined, while the PAC12 drops 7 spots.

That is in spite of the allocated pool being larger this year.

The ACC was the big net winner this year.

Note: The net change number for EIWA is the net change for EIWA+Ivy.

I do not understand why there are more than 32 qualifiers per weight. 32 man bracket, 32 qualifiers. The math is so simple even the average US high school senior could handle it.

I asked someone who used to work the scorer's table at NCAA for years. His recollection was that 33 was the average number of entrants before they capped it and they did not want to decrease the opportunities.

Based on that, I think (though not positive) it was capped at 33 in 1999. The eight years prior to that the average bracket size was 32.9 with a low of 32.5 in 1997 and a high of 33.4 in 1991.

I remember when it used to be that way. Didn’t like it then, wouldn’t like it now. If you want to wrestle D1, go D1 otherwise you have the potential to screw up the team race for no good reason.
Ricky Stewart failed in his bid for a 3rd straight title in 1982 after losing to a D2 wrestler in the semifinals. To be fair, Ricky was recovering from the flu and wasn’t his normal dominating self.

Per ranking, we look like we are in good shape to send our entire squad by ranking. With Carter being the only guy on the edge.

23 - 3
33 - 4
41 - 4
49 - 6
57 - 2
65 - 3
74 - 2
84 - 2
97 - 1
HW - 1
If Carter gets seeded according to willies predictions I actually love his draw at B12s. I expect Tagen and Troy to be on the same side as Alirez and Figs.

If we get some bracket love, my bet with Malos is pretty strong and Willie knows his stuff.

If we can get some points from Reece (I think we will) and Carter, then we are pretty strong. I do think Ayala and Buchanon win it, but I think Teemer gasses and doesn't do as well as rankings would suggest. I also think Keuter fails to score much.

My bad, I had B12s in my head which is what I was posting about.

Has there be official word on the Reece/Rin discussion?

Spratley at 4 is ridiculous. Thought he would be 3 maybe 2 but def not 4
Poulin and Figs don’t have a big12 loss. That’s all it is. And then berger beat Troy. Can’t really blame the committee just bad luck who who he did and didn’t wrestle. If he beats berger I think they bump him to 2 because his schedule was harder.
