NoMy memory is it use to be 4 points for winning in the finals if you don't get bonus. Has it changed?

I mean, compared to what we all thought would happen. I mean, usually PSU is hitting on all cylinders by now. Maybe, it’s unfair to compare them to last year or the projections everyone was saying they would do this year. They were supposed to break last years record. If very bad is 10 AAs with all still wrestling tomorrow, I hope every tournament is this bad.
It is unusual for you to lose 4 in the semi's and only have 2 finalists. But 10 All Americans is rare. I would not call your tournament very bad, but I might call it disgusting. I will probably have to take that back soon.
By the way, I said it was a bad “DAY”, not a bad tournament. Iowa is having a not so good tournament as a whole. They still will have a pretty good showing tomorrow though.
Nebraska has 3 finalists, 141, 149, and the got the upset to make finals at 157, where are favorite because upset on other side. They are underdog in other 2 ( I know hardy is the higher seed but Mendez is the defending champ). But they Have a good chance to win each match. Don’t they win all three but could because they don’t have a Gable or Messenbrink type in their finals.PSU 135.5 (3 finalists)
Nebraska 101.5 (2 finalists)
OSU 91 (3 finalists)
Iowa 73.5 (3 finalists)
it is relative. I stick by what I said. I was astonished to see them get upset as many times as they have, including yesterday. It is crazy to say, they still will win a championship. You said "very bad" but I still really wouldn't even call it a bad day. Sure, I expected more finalists but to have all 10 still going is pretty crazy. (They still can break the scoring record but I don't care about that.)
lol. True. Nebraska is peaking just at the right time. Hopefully, their peak was yesterday and ours is tomorrow. We’ve had a really good tournament and PSU had pretty much a typical PSU tournament, until yesterday, and those that stumbled yesterday, won’t stumble on the backside. Can we all agree that the David Taylor experiment was a failure?
Congrats on a good tournament so far. Nebby is leaking some oil and you still have a good shot at 2nd. Make your own magic.
I can’t believe he owned it, even a little. Of course he had to add the 2-1 comment and the 💩 performance. Try a 💩 year. He expected to walk out their and win everything because his name is AJ Ferrari👎🏻
That would be cool, remember Gable is left wing radical. It's gonna be like Rocky vs. Dolph Lundgren, Wyatt should come out to 'Living in America"Couple of minor predictions.....1 - finals matches will start at 197 because Starocci is going for his 5th and 2 - Wyatt will salute the president before his match.
Been their, done that lol!Couple errors in those posts last night. Thanks for those who corrected the numbers! Had a few too many tall boys at the arena apparently!
1) missed the Nebraska 3rd finalist
2) my Iowa can they catch us I must’ve meant if they won their matches with a pin lol.
Or the top gun theme. Would fit in a couple of ways .... patriotic and fits his challenge. That would be cool, remember Gable is left wing radical. It's gonna be like Rocky vs. Dolph Lundgren, Wyatt should come out to 'Living in America"
Lmao Gable is a “left wing radical”? I must have missed the speaking engagements he co-headlined with Bernie Sanders and AOCThat would be cool, remember Gable is left wing radical. It's gonna be like Rocky vs. Dolph Lundgren, Wyatt should come out to 'Living in America"
I was thinking last night about the general vibe around the program this time a year ago. Back to back horrible showings at NCAAs, guys consistently losing matches they shouldn’t, and nobody “making the leap” like you saw at other schools. No disrespect to JWS but the program was stuck in a rut at best, dead in the water at worst. DT and co. have come in and jolted it back to life. As great of a guy as Coleman is and as great of a coach as he might be, I don’t think we see this radical of a shift in 1 year under him. That was a very fun day. I was totally prepared for us to go 0-4 in the semis, and we went 3-1. Add to that 6 All-Americans, which could have easily been 8 (barring injury to TT and bad blood round draw to TJ). It will be a long road, but I can see the light at the end of the tunnel for us reclaiming our spot at the top of the sport.
Can we take another step forward next year?I was thinking last night about the general vibe around the program this time a year ago. I think that’s gonna depend on how they hit the portal and whether guys in redshirt or high school come in and make noise. Thompson, Merrill, Lockett, etc.Can we take another step forward next year?
Let’s hope it’s the Chunnel in length. Right guys? That was a very fun day. I was totally prepared for us to go 0-4 in the semis, and we went 3-1. After what I'm considering a very successful tournament, expectations should be high going into next year but we are losing 7 starters so maybe keep them realistic. Can we take another step forward next year?
I agree. At this point, we have no idea what our lineup will look like. For all we know Max McEnelly will be our starting 184 (just an example, zero inside info). We are going to learn a lot over the next month and then a lot more at the start of next year when redshirt info comes out.I think that’s gonna depend on how they hit the portal and whether guys in redshirt or high school come in and make noise. I’ve been MIA on the forum for a few days. Was Surber hurt or did he just have a bad tournament? His draw looked fairly tough but manageable.Assuming Dee goes 165 I see drop off at 141, 174, 184, heavy. Improvement at 133 and 197 (assuming CM here). Stable at 165. So we lose 7 but I see 4 “holes”.
He looked dazed and confused his last two matches. Hope it was just him and not a head injury he was wrestling with. It was tough to watch. His last match he was stumbling into shots. No way they knowingly let him go if he had signs of head injury so that can’t be it. Just off I guess. Rough end to a grueling career. He gave a lot to the program.I’ve been MIA on the forum for a few days. Was Surber hurt or did he just have a bad tournament? His draw looks fairly tough but manageable.

Based on the recruits we have coming in I would expect next year to be last year of getting 4 or 5 guys from the portal. Hopefully from then on it will be just to fill a spot or two every once in awhile, like Penn st has done the last couple of years. If there’s gonna be another big portal haul this offseason, I hope it’s the last. Would prefer to have the overwhelming majority of our starters be homegrown guys we recruited out of HS rather than having to go back to the portal year in and year out. Mostly because that would mean this staff is hitting on recruiting AND development which, not to beat a dead horse, has been lacking at OSU for a while.
I read he’s getting $10 million a match! Granted I read that in my own post…..“Max McEnelly will be our starting 184”
I heard a rumor, Max McEnelly will be our start 184lber next year. Not sure where I heard it though. 😉

Plott on deck Mat 4. Tough match. Foca pinned him in Tulsa 2023.Shouldn’t have mattered. Fish gave that one away there at the end. Dominant on top and gets reversed.
Silly deep reaching shot when it’s not needed under a minute and gets taken down to lose.
Who else is wrestling for us this morning?Plott on deck Mat 4. Tough match. Foca pinned him in Tulsa 2023.
